Top Gear

OOOOOO OOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOO did any of the UK members watch  the first in the new series of Top Gear tonight. If not ........ WHY NOT!!
You missed an incredible mix of aviation and spectacular motors ....
The new Lotus Elise out manovering an British Apache.

Specs for the new Elise.... its a stripped down version of the "normal" Elise  with a 1.8ltr modified Toyota Celica engine ....... Two camshafts ... one for low power and one for high power ... the car automatically switches between them at 6200rpm and keeps the engine revs above 6200 during manouvering. The Apache was required to get missile lock on the car within the boundarys of the Top Gear circuit ... It didnt and some of the shots of the car and helo together where amazing.
(Tissues would have been required had I seen it LIVE.)

So for those who didnt see it ........... TRY and find the footage and watch the rest of the series  because they are promicing even more spectacular and outrageous stuff. (I thought nothing could beat the Harrier and the Zonda race untill tonight)

cheers

the engine in the elise is the 1.8 L 2ZZ-GE VVTLi, it is EXACTLY the same engine as the one in the Celica GT-S and the Matrix XRS, except on the lotus it is mid/rear mounted. it is a 180 hp inline 4 with a 11.5:1 compression. the camshaft deal it the VTEC lift. lift kicks in at about 5900 rpm and feels like a mild flow of NOS was engaged. it is really good, little, high revving (8400rpm redline) engine that gets close to 30mpg.

sorry to rant, but i have been spending the last couple of months building up my brothers 2004 Toyota Matrix XRS, which uses the same motor.
Sincerely,
Me
