Finally Got Myself A New(ish) Car!

Postby SpaceHippy1975 » Sun Jul 09, 2017 7:16 am

Well, after being without a car for just over a month, I've managed to find my self the car I've been after for a long time (the non millionaire version!)

I've managed to snag myself a 2003 Mk 1 Audi TT Quattro 223bhp in a Diamond Black, comes with all the toys, 53,000 miles on the clock with a full Audi service history!

The only downer is the stereo has a tape player! I swear I remember that cassettes were obsolete by the late 1990's!

Quite a pocket rocket especially coming from a Volvo S40 2.4i!

That's a pretty old car!

One year older than mine. :D

Don't feel too bad about the cassette player. My wife insisted that I get one in the, then, new car. Absolutely hate it.

Other than that it sounds, and looks, like you got a winner.

Makes two of us now. That Audi is a pretty cool little car, see 'em sometimes, they always look good on the road, and better yet in your driveway.

Cassette player, huh? Well, they're dinosaurs, but don't feel too bad, 'cause car CD players are also disappearing. I just bought a Subaru BRZ brand new on the basis of "I gotta have MY kind of music when I'm driving" going. When I realized that not all new cars nowadays come with 'Ye Olde CD Player", I freaked. But the BRZ does. Smart move. So I can cruise down the bullyvard now, or even just out and about, with Zeppelin or Sabbath or Hendrix makin' me a Happy Camper.

Enjoy the Audi. Cheers.

Think of all the mix tapes you will be able to make..... and of course the joy to be experienced when the tape gets caught up in the mechanism. Always fun to unravel that..

As a European fine car owner for many years I know your TT well. Besides looking like a work of art it also handles very well and is a treat to drive on curvy country roads. The engine has 5 sodium-filled valves per cyl. and it sure ikes to rev. You need to know how many miles are on the Timing Belt because if it breaks you will trash that expensive engine. Most people change the Water Pump at the same time as it has a plastic impeller. Once they are into the belt area its cheaper to do the pump at same time and avoid over heating the engine with a bad pump. Other than that, Enjoy!

Thanks for your kind replies,

I was going through my bedroom trying to find some 4x6 photo paper when I came across my old Iron Maiden album cassette tapes! Well I've not listened to them for quite awhile & will test them out, but I must remember not to start head banging if I get too into the music while driving!

Must say it's nice to drive a responsive car, especially after the Volvo!
