Once upon a time any car that would get out of control with your foot feed (gas pedal) would have been considered "dangerous". Take for example my first car of choice...a '61 Impala with a 409, 4 speed, dumps, two fours (carbs) and more torque than ANY car could use. I took my sainted mom for a ride in this beautiful example of rolling testosterone and stalled it at a red light. When I got it cranked up the light was changing and I did what any 17 year old does best. We went back to the dealer and bought a four door biscayne with a mild v-8 and air conditioning. What a person considers best for a hot-rod is subjective but open for debate as long as it involves the gas pedal.

1970 Chevelle SS LS7 with the 427ci engine.



I had a 1969 Nova with a (transplanted) 400ci small block (no A/C and no power steering, Holley 750 double-pumper, Edelbrock torker intake manifold and headers), TH400 tranny (I know, it's an auto), fiberglass hood with LS7 scoop, slightly narrowed rear with ladder bars and big 50 series rear tires (Pro-Tracs - anyone remember those?).... I should've never sold her, but I needed a commuter car and the gas mileage was, well, I think we measured it as Gallons Per Mile back then.

My pops had a '65 GTO. 389, Tri-Power, 2speed auto.

This is not his car, but the same color, trim, etc.



I had a 1991 300ZX for about six years. I crashed it in the rain, driving it on a day that I should have left it at home and driven my truck.

not my car, just a generic shot of one like it I thought y'all'd dig. Mine was black, with tan leather and T-Tops. If I ever hit the lottery, I'll find another one, a slicktop, and drop a LS-1 in it.

When I was 12, my father surprised the family - came home in this: 1968 Dodge Charger. I looked at my pop in a different way after that. I was quite impressed that the speedometer displayed 0-to-150 mph!

I'm an old fart. I had a 65 fastback mustang in my young and stupid days. Had the engine balanced and blueprinted. 550hp.

Why limit yourself to a mere 427ci SS? I used to own a 1970 Malibu with the intentions of restoring it to a respectable tire consumer. Alas, it was stolen. Makes me sad.
To those who remember, these cars (my personal favorite) came with an LS6 option, the 450HP (dramatically underrated to appease the insurance companies) 454ci, with cowl induction, Muncie M-22, and A/C.

One my HS buddies had a blue 1970 Challenger with a 340 in it. He sold it because he was pretty sure he'd get killed in it, only to buy a 90 Daytona Shelby 2.5L turbo. They were both scary fast, but he finally blew the 2.5L up (that's what happened to all those Daytonas and Conquest TSi's). I like the Vanishing Point/DeathProof white though.

Another guy I knew (this one wasn't really my buddy, just a guy I butted heads with over some girls in HS) had a 70 'Cuda he'd shoed a 440 into, under a giant hood scoop. It was ridiculous as a street car. His dad (who is a lot nicer than the son, IMO) has a 70 Cuda with a 426 that is set up for top fuel, and has a drag chute and everything. He doesn't race it anymore, its on display in a gas station he owns.

There's this guy I've known for decades, who liked to stuff big mills (and their associated transmissions) into tiny cars... like a 351 Cleveland into a '72 Maverick. He also jammed a 396 into a '71 Vega.

At Bandimere Speedway during the High School Drags, he over torqued the Rear End on the Vega, and the rear Axle assembly departed from the automobile.

I bought my neighbor's house and farm last year, had the fence rows removed and turned his place and my place into one big (150 acres, big to me) place. His new house didn't have a garage, and he left his car here for a while because he and I are buddies, and he knew it was safe to leave it for a while, and I didn't care because I didn't need the space.

He dropped a 5.0 from an '89 Mustang into a 1974 MG. 15" Ford SVT wheels, Ford blue (like Ford Tractor blue). It makes about 285 rwhp and has a great track suspension on it.










He has it up for sale right now, as he just bought a Jaguar roadster and is in the process of putting an LS-1 in it. I also know where there is a seventies Pinto with a 351 in it that is mean as hell, and a '92 RX-7 with an LS-1.
