Just be thankful its not a 9-cylinder Rotary!... ...!

..and I bet it churns out a lot more than 150 BHP!

It would work wonders on my 12 BHP Yamaha RXS 100... ...!

Paul...and my next project is a Napier Sabre motor...>>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napier_Sabre .... ...!

You'd need solid rubber tyres at least 3 feet thick just to get off the line with a Napier Foz!!! Talk about the ultimate burn-out/doughnut bike :D :D :D

As I recall rotary engine fire one cylinder after the other, going in a circle so to speak? How does it take a corner then with that much counterforce throwing the bike sideways? Motorbikes need to have balanced engine to prevent rocking sideways to much. Take the BMW boxer engine or even the Moto Guzzi V-twins. They throw the bike sideway already while being only 4 cylinder engines.

The engine on that bike is a stationary Radial Engine, Carlo...!

(The rotating crankshaft is balanced by all the pistons, so little or no torque reaction).

BMW Boxer and Moto Guzzi = Twin cylinder engines.

Paul...2-stroke at the moment!.. ...!

Paul, the fact that the engine is stationary doesn't matter. The mass of the 9 moving pistons should be heavy enough to rock this bike sideways and onto it's side in a corner. Although I don't think this bike was build for riding, just for show. Great piece of engineering though.

I stand corrected on the BMW and Guzzi engines; they are two cylinders.

I'm always fascinated by engines, and their design, in particular, multi-cylinder Radial and Rotary engines... :D ...!

A nice animation of a 5-cylinder Radial engine here...>>> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Radial_engine

Paul...4-strokes and 2-strokes... ...!

They do come in all shapes and sizes... :D ...!

This is an in-line version...>>> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fU_HYXOgbRw

I am amazed at the instant response to the throttle, for such a physically large engine with lots of inertia!

Paul...radiating enthusiasm!... ...!

I am sure the carbs would have been adjusted. Also don't forget that the engine is not in gear and it is not being used to turn a large lump of steel/wood/aluminum.........

True Matt... ;) ..!

I am sure that coupling the rear wheel to the engine would be a much more sensible proposition than the usual; "Propeller" out in front option...

...and less draughty!... :D ..!

Paul... ... ...!

That puppy is ugly as sin. but Man that engine sounds good as hell. It has a real nice throttle rap. If ya think of it as a portable rotory
engine stand, it ain't so bad.. I guess.

I am no engineer...not of the mechanical variety anyway, but it seems to me, just an opinion mind you, that the prop on that bike is just tooooo small to be very effective as a thrust generator for a machine that size.... :D

Have a great time all!
