Well....

...I just think I wasted £23 on those fancy, filtered Ear Plugs.....>>> https://www.alpinehearingprotection.co.uk/motorcycle/ .... :( ....!

The reason being, is that they are designed to let external sounds pass through them via a small vented filter!

This allows all the sort of noises through, that I am trying to block-out!

This afternoon was a nice warm sunny day, so I got out my old squidgy ear plugs; this sort...>>>

http://www.thesafetysupplycompany.co.uk ... 0wod_lEMWQ

Warmed up my engine while I twirled the ear plugs between my thumb an fingers to reduce their size, and inserted them as deep into my ears as I could, which then expanded, making sure that they completely blocked my ear canals....
Wheeled my bike out onto the road and enjoyed a fantastic trip around the countryside with just the hum of my engine being transmitted through my cranium/skull...(including close-up speech with the Petrol Station Attendant!).
No more screaming wind noise destroying my hearing, allowing a much more pleasant and safer ride!

Although the foam ear plugs are cheap and cheerful, the secret is to make sure that they fit properly, deep inside the ear canal to block out all high pressure sound waves!

I hope I have now cured the problem!.... ....!

Glad you found something that works. Just be careful not to push them in too far - they might just pop out the other side.

Its a wet, bloody miserable day, here in England, so no Motorbiking!.... :( ...!

So...in between preparing and cooking...and eating some fantastic meals....

I am "Chrome-casting" some youtube videos from my PC to my TV, to watch whilst I devour my culinary creations in comfort!!

Today its a trip from Bishop to Reno, up the I-395, amongst some breath-taking Sierra Nevada scenery!

Wishing I was there on my Motorcycle!

(A journey I often take in my Cessna 150 in FSX).... ;) ....!

Had a FAB ride to Abergavenny (Wales) and back to Hereford (England) again on Sunday 17th April.

Sunny, but still rather cool!

Zillions of Bikes and Bikers there!

Videoed and edited (Win Movie Maker) the journey both ways, and saved the files, but, as always, it takes far too long to upload them onto You-Tube for others to watch/enjoy?!

"Uploading" video files is painfully slow in England at 0.6 Mbs on Broadband....on a good day.... ....!

All my stuff can only be viewed on "Dropbox", with a max file size storage limit of 2 MB!

But, anyway, the ride was enjoyable, with my ear-plugs fully inserted deep into my ear-'oles, to block out the painful transmission and wind noise!

Monday, the weather is a bit "iffy", so I will be limited to a bike ride to the shops and back again... ...!

Paul.....more stuff to come.... :D ...!

Remember this song by Marty Wilde Paul? The words are very appropriate.

Marty was 76 last week & still touring. Looking good & singing as well as ever. http://martywilde.com/

Good link to wiki, there Paul. I happen to know that Marty Wild's red dog started running from there to Aberystwydd but nobody ever saw it again.

His song about Abergavenny refers to St. Mary's pwch (pooch) or dog where it is urged to go go goch. (Goch meaning red in Welsh therefore Go go red)) As the dog was only learning Welsh language back then, it got confused after it jumped on the train.

Paul the weathers been warm and sunny the last few days in Lincolnshire although a few nights ago it did snow at 2 in the morning but the snow had disappeared by daybreak.

..still a bit cool in Herefordshire...April 25th...

Summer is still a long way coming... ....!

Anywhoo....

I couldn't take the frustration any longer!

Since I purchased my Honda CMX 250C Rebel Cruiser last Xmas, it has been impossible to obtain neutral when at a standstill; traffic lights, traffic queue, etc, necessitating holding the clutch lever held in, whilst in gear, with the bike slowly creeping forward under power!
The clutch plates wont fully dis-engage!....
Even after an engine flush-out (clean), and 10/30 Semi-synthic oil replacing the old black treacle (from previous owners not doing regular oil changes, over many years!), the clutch plates would never fully dis-engage, and attempting to engage neutral was/is always a nightmare with constant clutch drag!.... ...!

So....after a discussion and trial with my motor-cycle mechanic (amongst many other things) Son, it was decided to purchase a complete new clutch assembly, together with a new clutch cover gasket!...>>> https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01 ... UTF8&psc=1

I have ordered the bits and bobs, and await for their arrival, whilst in the meantime I am left with my left hand getting stronger by the day/minute holding the clutch lever in at traffic lights, traffic queues, etc.... ...!

...and his suggestion is to forget fancy Synthetic/Semi-synthic Oil and use ordinary Mineral Oil, and perform frequent oil changes instead!

So, there you go!
Hopefully, gear changes with be much more pleasant from there-on!

More news on progress later... ;) ...!

Reminds me of my days riding my BSA Gold Star scrambler. Durn clutch never properly disengaged. I was always accused of false starts. They even changed the rules because of it. Had to have your hand on top of your helmet until the flag went down. I had to bite the bullet and buy a complete new set of clutch plates and springs for it. It might be the reason my left hand is so arthritic now. :auto-dirtbike:

In my case, with the Honda, it was infinitely cheaper to purchase the complete clutch assembly from the Land of the Rising Sun, rather than the individual parts; Hub, Release Bearing, Springs, Pressure plate, Friction plates, Plain plates, Anti-judder springs, etc, etc...from Honda.

The whole calaboose for £60 ...Ready to fit as one big lump!

The Honda Clutch release mechanism is very much lighter and smoother than the little Bendix-screw-type mechanism fitted to my little Yamaha RXS-100 2-stroke bike, which requires the strength of Conan the Barbarian to operate it...
...and still the problem in obtaining neutral from a standstill!!

I well remember the BSA DBD34 Gold Star, and its problems with kick-starting it!....Bloody Magnetos!... ...!

My personal favourite was my 1958 650cc BSA Super Rocket café racer!..... ...!
