Isn't it always the way. A simple gear train with 5 teeth on one gear and 8 on the other can spin the money out of your pocket at the same ratio.

When I bought my "new" Honda CMX 250C Rebel cruiser, I didn't realise, at time time, that it was an import model, with a Kilometre speedometer/distance (kilometres) Clock

I've now purchased, and fitted, a new, zero-miles, MPH speedometer/mileage recorder to give me the correct information for we English/American Bike riders!

https://www.davidsilverspares.co.uk/par ... 210KEN671/

All this "Kilometre" stuff is for folks who live; "abroad", in funny countries!... ;) ....!

I now know exactly at what speed I am travelling, and what mileage I am clocking-up!

I love Imperial Stuff...like I was taught at School...in the Olden Days....!

Paul....calibrated in Miles Per Hour.... ...!

I just need some decent, warm, comfortable weather, to go for a nice ride now!

A new California number plate would be nice, and hope that the bike doesn't require a CAL; "emissions" test (they are funny about such things)..... ....!

Last Saturday.....23rd Jan....it stopped raining for two minutes, so I packed all my overnight gear up (Pyjamas and toothbrush, etc) on my Honda 2-wheeled cruiser, and sped off to Cinderford, in the Royal Forest of Dean (31 miles away) to visit one of my lovely Son and Daughters-in-Law to do some nice work on my new? Honda CMX 250 C Rebel Bike.

New chain and sprockets, and a valve clearance check, plus a good-old clean all over, and a polish, and a new, proper, MPH speedometer, to replace the daft KMPH speedo originally fitted...(Import model).

My Lad, Ian, is also a Motorcycle Mechanic, as well as his Kitchen and Bathrooms business, so he is well served for doing jobs on my Bike!
..(I used to, many years ago, but I am far too tired nowadays!)... ;) ...!

He made all sorts of adjustments to my bike, (Daisy), and she is in tip-top condition now ready for trips all round the World ( England) when it stops bloody raining, and the weather is nice and warm and cosy again (Summer)... :D ...!

I also got a free Sunday Dinner, (and a cuddle with my lovely Daughter-in-Law), the next day!... ....!

Rode her back to Hereford, (the Bike), (at the speed of light, yer Honour), on Sunday afternoon!

She goes as sweet as a nut now!

Seriously pleased!

..and a Happy Bunny!

Ta, Dave...

I'll tell you what....

..it takes some serious practice, to get used to a; "Cruiser" motorcycle, after 65+ years of daily riding various Brit bikes, and various Jap tourers and sports bikes!

Low seat height, high, wide, ape handlebars, and forward foot controls, take some getting used to...

...and its impossible to look over the top of the car in front!...

...trust me!... ...!

I'm never quite sure where my feet are!

But its loads of fun, and something completely different!.... :D ...!

I just need some nice warm, sunny weather now, to get out and about, and explore and video the countryside with my video camera recorder (SJCAM SJ 4000).

...and a meet-up with fellow Bikers on Sunday ride-outs!

Paul....Cruisin'.... (in the nicest possible way!),...with a big grin!...... ...!

Hello Bikin' chums...

...and Chums wishing that they had a bike!... :D ...!

Just a quick link to Dropbox, for a quick walk-around my new cruiser baby, after abandoning a freezing cold local trip...>>>

https://www.dropbox.com/s/6dyim56ynjr6j ... d.MOV?dl=0

Note the obligatory "ding" in the petrol tank created by the Indicators!

Every Honda Rebel has a "ding" in the tank straight from the factory to save the owners the trouble of creating it!

My bike is the latest model, with a "ding" in the tank on BOTH sides!.... ..!

My baby Yamaha RX-S 100 appears in the shot, and my Honda CB500RR twin is sheltering indoors from the cold... -2 degrees C!!

My 1976, 50cc Honda FS1M (Fizzy), is presently being rebuilt in my Lad's workshop!

More Biking Videos being processed on Windows Movie Maker!

My latest purchase (£20). Paddock Stand to enable me to spin the back wheel to clean it, and adjust, and lubricate the rear chain properly...>>>

Image

I just hope that I can lift the bike off its prop-stand with it, single-handed, without the bike falling over!

All my other bikes all have "centre stands" to enable work on the bike!

Cruisers always look as though they are falling over when they are parked!... ...!

Paul.... :D ...!

...and not forgetting my snazzy new Tool Roll (with obligatory shiny studs) fitted to the front forks...>>>

1) Is that an optical illusion? How is she standing upright with no centre stand?

2) Why not fit the new saddle bags as well? Should look a treat!

3) Looks like that grass needs a little lawnmower action he,he,he! Well c’mon, someone was bound to mention it!

(1) Ye canna see the wooden blocks under the Prop-stand (kickstand)?..... :o ...!

(2) My snazzy new saddle bags are too large to fit onto the Rebel... :( ....(OK for my Yamaha bike with its dual-seat).... :D ...)
I'm on the lookout for a pair of throw-over canvas (ex-WD) bags.

(3) Its in the middle of Winter, and the grass is far too wet to cut! .... (Waiting 'till the Spring!)... ;) ...!

...and I'm still waiting for the sun to shine, (and warmth) for a comfortable ride-out!

Hello Ken!.... :D ...!

Its a strange fact that fitting the Windscreen crates more blustery draught than riding the bike without a screen!
Windscreens crate a vacuum behind them, causing air to be sucked around, and buffeting the rider from all directions!
..they also amplify engine, etc, noise!
OK for protection from rain...but that's about all!
I'll probably un-clip it for most of my rides!

Its only the big Harley Street Glides, etc, which seem to have windscreens as part of the overall design.
...the Harley Sportsers don't....flies in the teeth!... ...!
(My Honda Rebel is similar to the Harley-Davidson Sportster "72"...but with a parallel twin engine!)... :D ...!

This time of the year, the local weather forecasts show uncomfortable rain most of the time, which inhibits my daily ride-outs!

I don't like rain...it gets me cold and wet... ....!

...P.S.....purely out of mechanical interest.... ;) ....

My Honda Rebel engine is unusual, in that it sports a Parallel Twin engine with a 360 degree crank!.... :o ...!

Both pistons go up and down together, and fire together, like the old British Parallel Twins, with a similar sound effect!.... :D ...!

Most modern (Jap, etc,) Parallel Twins have 180 degree cranks. Pistons going up and down alternately, and fire alternately, and fitted with gear or chain-driven balancers.

The Rebel engine displays little, or no vibration whatsoever, even without balancer shafts...
...and doesn't shake itself to pieces, like the Harley, 45 degree, Vee-Twins...(Sorry Harley riders!).... ... ...!

Mind you....I do like the earth shattering rumble of Vee-Twins...especially narrow-angle ones!... ...!

A Yamaha XVS Dragstar 250 would have been very nice, with its 60 degree Vee-engine, but far too rare and expensive in England!

...so I am quite happy with my; "Daisy"...and she likes me as well....'cos I look after her, and talk to her!!
