Dave...
Can you send some of your sunshine over to my side of the country.
I need a bit more warmth!
Off to Abergavenny (Wales) with the Bikers tomorrow (Sunday), weather permitting.
Bike prepared, tyres checked, gassed and oiled, video camera fitted...
...just need Sun!......!
Paul.......!

At that time no one around here would work on a turbo charged bike so I ended up having to buy the shop manuals and do all of the work on the bike myself, interesting but what a pain.

I can remember in the 1970's and 1980's, the Motorcycle press always advising against getting a "turbo" version of a Motorcycle!
...always asking for expensive trouble, they reckoned!
....if you wanted something to go really fast on...( and die)....you got a big, 3-cylinder, 750cc, 2-Stroke!.......!
Amazing creatures...2-strokes, on full song!!.......!

There's nothing quite like a lung-full of 2-stroke exhaust fumes first thing in the morning...with a mug of coffee!.......!
Paul....stroking my little Yamaha......!
...she drinks petrol and oil like there's no tomorrow!!.........!

.......Other than that one time I had no problems with the bike. I was able to sweeten it up a bit by connecting the waste gate to the choke cable thus having full control of the boost pressure. Doing this made the boost gauge on the bike useless so I had to install a pressure gauge on the outlet side of the turbo and mount it on the dash where you could see it easily. This done created other problems when the overcharge valve popped at 14 psi. I got around that by removing the valve and blocking the port but once done you had to watch the pressure closely because it would build fast and go past 14 psi quickly and blow the head off the bike. The highest I ever took the pressure was up to 20 psi then backed off as this caused the clutch to slip as it was not designed for that much power. Before I sold the bike I returned it to original as I didn't want the young guy I sold it to to blow up the engine.
