enzo style wheel

Strange question, but does anyone know if it is possible to buy a steering wheel that is designed along the lines of the Enzo's? I have been looking and while i am not expecting paddle shifts and all the dials, it would be cool to have something simmilar perhaps with the rev lights and shape for whatever new car i buy. I have seen a number of "f1" style but they are all based off some poor 1980's copy.

Inless your new car comes with out a steering wheel I shouldn't bother. Probably more trouble than it's worth and people like me would only laugh.

lol whys that? unlike most idiots who waste thousands on doing up the outside of their car, an area which they see little of while they are using it, i like the idea of doing up the interior which is where a driver spends most of their time.

You might want to be careful Craig if its a newer car (that is, a car with a steering wheel airbag).  If the car has an airbag in the steering wheel it will be very difficult to replace and very expensive if it gets messed up.  Those wheels are specifically designed with the airbag in mind and changing them could cause the bag to either not function when needed or go off when your working on it (the latter is the bigger fear).  So, I wou,d do some research about that as well before you spend some money on a new wheel.

As for quesiton of where to find one, I really don't know (sorry dude).

Also, don't listen to Woody-make your car what you want, it doesn't matter what other people think-its your car.    (sorry Woody  :)).

as for the work involved, My cousin is a mechanic, i'm sure he can do the work involved for me. I know they can be changed as i have seen pleanty of people do so.

I'm with Woody on this one Craig, depending on what car you are going to put it in & whether or not it has any functional advantage.

You have to be very careful or people will laugh at it - it's the same principle as the people who spend thousands on bodykits & a roll cage & them dump it all on a 1.1 litre car - pointless: "Hey look!! It's Colin Mcrae..................no, wait............it's that kid in a 1.1 who lives with his mum & dad".

I'm not saying don't do it, just be careful about the car/wheel combination.

see this is my point. I dont care what others think about it. I am not planning on trying to make a car something it isn't, and i am not looking for functional advantages, i am looking to replace a steering wheel with another to improve the visual appeal inside to me. Also if you have seen the Neon inside it is the most basic of cars, and the wheel is designed in such a way that i couldn't use a 9 and 3 grip which is how i drive.
In the end it may all be a moot point as there are some very good deals on rover 75's here and while they are not great cars they are fully loaded inside and the same cost to insure.

I'd forgotten you were after a Neon & I haven't seen the stock Neon wheel, but if it's as bad as you say it is then by all means change it, just try to replace it with a wheel that suits the style of the car.

Fraid not, no car to do it in. Moved onto the pass plus stuff with my instructor so 2 hours of motorway fun, but those are no problem for me as i spend half my life on them as a passenger, it was just a case of adjusting it to being the driver.

Cool, you'll find the 'Pass Plus' test really easy after the standard test, the reason being that there is no real pressure for you to pass - if you fail you can still keep driving anyway, so you won't be anywhere near as nervous taking the Pass Plus.

hiya mate, try demontweeks, they do a lot of (quality) steering wheels, etc.
in your defence i would say go for it! if you go for a slightly smaller diameter wheel then the turning will be slightly quicker, but go for a leather one, they look much nicer and feel nicer too!  :)

Richie makes a very good point. These days the steering wheel is part of the car & usually contains the air bag among other controls. I haven't taken much notice of the interior of the Neon but manufacturers spend a lot of time & money researching these things before producing the car. Some are better than others (the Austin Allegro springs to mind) but the steering wheel is usually designed to match the specific model car & for easy access to things like the wiper & indicator levers. This includes the diameter of the wheel itself so a smaller one could make it more difficult to drive & even dangerous. I'm not convinced that changing a steering wheel simply for the sake of appearance is such a good idea. I would have thought you could find better things to spend your money on.
