Well I got a car!

Postby skoker » Fri Jul 22, 2011 3:09 pm

Not a manual, but a pontiac G6 (pics later).  Its nice and all, got it really cheap, but the air conditioning doesn't blow cold air...  Its charged properly so me and my dad are trying to figure out the problem.  Has anyone else had this problem/know how to fix it? :)

Check your compressor clutch circuit. Possibly a bad clutch relay, or the field coil has gone bad. May be slightly different terminology as I work on Honda's... but same basic concept.
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

You should be able to test the clutch be seeing if it will turn when the system is turned off and not when the system is turned on. Just turn the ignition on but don't start the engine of course (I know I point out the obvious, but you can never be too sure, Expat said.....) and see it function. If it does not, you are probably looking at a compressor change and sorry to say, $$$$$$$$$

1. Captain, if the problem is not entered into the technical logbook.........then the aircraft does not have a problem.
2. And, if you have time to write the fault on a napkin and attach to it to the yoke.........you have time to write it in the tech log....see point 1.

Congrats! I've rented a G6 a few times, and was surprised by how much I liked them. Good luck with the AC problem.

Now if I was a bad person I would say go and rent one and then take it back due to faulty air con....................... :-X

You should be positive in your suggestions. Suggest him to rent one and to swap the pieces of the AC that are broken on his car with the ones working on the rental. :D

This of course IF he can do the swap himself OR if he has some VERY TRUSTED friend that can do it for him. Better not trust mechanics for these swaps. ;D
There is no such a thing as overkill. Only unworthy targets.
