I'm not saying he turned round slammed the brakes on and did a handstand over the line, just watch the way he takes the final straight though,

I know, he coasted for most of the straight. But he said himself he threw the lap away at the final corner. Having never really observed the temperament of Alonso, you do wonder if he thought to himself that he'd screwed up, and rather throw the lap away than commit to finishing the lap and really "losing" pole to his team mate - maybe by only a couple of hundredths of a second - and hence taking a little bit of psychological high ground. The way he did it, we will never know. :)

Judging by the start, that is one very ruffled world champion...

Aye, what happened? Did he just have to avoid as Hamilton was on the racing line and he would have smashed into him had Alonso taken the line?

That was an almighty crash by Kubica! Looks like he clipped the stationary car on the trackside...hope he's OK! :o

Nasty indeed. Worst looking crash in recent history, and just as well he didn't bounce a foot higher into the wall. Good to hear that his injuries are only limited to a broken leg.

Well done Lewis! :)

Certainly, we haven't seen a crash like that for a long time - his injuries (or lack of them) just come to show how well designed the cars are.

Fantastic drive by Hamilton, despite the four or so crashes and a very difficult track he showed that he has definitely got what it takes.

Who knows - he could be the next Schumi!

what a race.
well done to Lewis, I think he's gone beyond everyones expectations again. And if he stays consistant then the world championship is his.
Kubica is a lucky lucky man, the way his head was banging around was scary.

I watched the race in German and Nikki Lauda came out with the quote of the season (so far) after kubica's crash:

"In my day, by such an accident he would have died twice, once when he hit the first wall and again when he hit the second wall"  ;D

Matt

PS I think that Lewis might be worth a fiver being invested down the bookies.

Kubica's crash was SCARY  :o I honestly feared the worst; as mentioned it goes to show how safe an F1 car is.
Oh, and well done Lewis  :)  ;D

Results up shortly.

I am guessing bmw will use vettel in the race seat, I know they've wanted this chance for a long time.

Hurrah! Lucky I put Heidfeld in. Can't say Alex Wurz did too bad - 19th to 3rd, including 40 laps on the Supersofts - which everyone else was doing as short a stint as possible on. And all with a broken rear wing...
