Simple toggle switch ???????????

Postby Pc-Shark » Sat Sep 24, 2005 10:30 pm

Say I want to hook up like 2 12'' Subwoofers with a 1000watt amp but I want the amp to be controled by a simple toggle switch that can be found at any auto parts store, so I can turn the amp on and off with the flip of a switch. Since I have 2 nephews under 2 yrs old and I can not have the amp on while they are in my car. But I can not find a Toggle switch that can handle that much watts. I guess my question is: Is there a toggle switch availible that I use in this situation?

Do you know how many volts that is?  I just did a quick search and there is no mention of how many watts of power it will take, just volts.  And the highest one I found was about 250 volts...  You could always combine two 600 watt light switches from a house.  ;)  Sorry I can't be much more of a help, I'm not really an electrican.
