Today, at indianapolis motor speedway, in testing, tony renna, a future chip ganassi driver died. this shocked me when i first heared it, a serious injury and a death this year. sad to see renna go, he was a great driver.

not sure what happened, then again they dont usually release these things.

this is sad news.:(
i think its time for the IRL to start changing some of their saftey features. i know they are up there in some areas with F1, but some things arnt, and when you consider they are actually driving at an almost constant high speed round an enclosed track, they really need to sort it out. It only by a mirical that Brack survived, and now this.

i am beginning to believe that it wasnt a miricle that brack survived, especially after mario andrettis wreck in testing when he drove over an object and flew higher than ive ever seen in a race car.  he walked away from it.

im not so much worried about the IRL's safety than i am their racing policies. i am however worried about CART and their safety. they are not only faster than the IRL, but they run on more dangeroud circuts, and with the Gold Coast coming up and Fontana(230-240 mph average), i am more worried than ever.  when i look back in history i see that there have been crashing streaks every few years where the drivers get real racy and fight for position and injur or kill them selves.
