The TACPACK from VRS!
Pre-orders started a few days back, and at a $10 discount.
Do keep in mind that the initial release will ONLY be compatible with the FSX version of the VRS F/A-18E. There are plans to expand further, but that will take some time.

Looks like Capt. Sim is one up on VRS.
Their's is out NOW! And does not require purchasing an aircraft.
And theirs is $14.99 euro/$20.41 USD.
http://www.captainsim.com/products/w001/VRS' may or may not be better, but CS price is better; much better if you don't already have the Super Bug.

Can't tell from here(college) but if I remember correctly the CS one does not damage aircraft and what not? Just fire the weapons which VRS already does. Plus the VRS one according to the site will support other aircraft sometime.

'Sometimes' sounds worse than NOW. CS Weapon does damage aircraft.

Like I said, this pack is only for the Rhino owners, there is little reason for anyone else to order it at this point.
The TacPack is, however, much more advanced than the CS version. For starters, the TacPack will support dumb bombs and multiplayer (CS has specifically denied that their program supports either).

There is nothing "one up" about it. They can brag that they were the first...but from the looks of it, its not even nearly as in depth with the caliber of Jon and company's Tacpack. I think other companies looking for an sdk of a weapons addon will swing over to VRS hands down.
Its fine to have competition...look where FS has gone over the years. None of this would have happened without competition..but when they (CS) openly say things like "Captain Sim Weapon for FSX is the first and the only true combat expansion ever made for any version of MS Flight Simulator," its completely uncalled for. More so, they have been deleting every post regarding users (on their forum and even Youtube vids) calling them out on that very claim. I'm sure the outlook would be different if they never placed their product on par with the Holy Grail. At least the folks at VRS have tact, and they have the integrity to leave this in discussion by not deleting any CS related posts.
CS makes fine looking a/c, and I hope they continue that trend (like their upcoming 737), but they definitely loss some cool points over their lack of being tact and humble. VRS has only advertised how they want to change the way FSX is played for some and openly welcomes other (companies) to capitalize with their SDK.

Since my above post, I have actually purchased CS's little addon, and I am not impressed by it. In fact, I'd put money that anyone who has purchased high caliber developed aircraft would feel as if this is a gimmick addon. It's completely tacked on with a separate 2D panel. the effects are random, and you can't really see when you make a kill (in the air) unless you're close and following your kill...but no fire or smoke trail (my settings are at max).
I wish CS just worked on the Hornet they provided for Acceleration to have hardpoints, true functional avionics, functional SMS with modes, and overall improvement with the VC's look/functionality. That's what they should have done with their add on. VRS has the right idea of making their addon with the principle that a weapons package needs to have a fire control system, radar/radar warning reciever, and the associated avionics for the weapons. Even more so, VRS is willing to release this SDK royalty free to the devs to integrate the weapons system into the associated avionics in their existing and future aircraft.

The whole concept of turning FSX into a war simulator is actually something of a turn off, imo. I look around at how many historical aircraft are completely missing from the skies of FSX, or planes (such as the ones by Captain Sim) that are full of promise, but are never "finished", and then you see stuff like this...

Firstly, I said I had, secondly, it comes off as a gimmick addon, finally, I can counter this video with this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2zfE_4JzwR4and don't say that its not a proven addon. in addition to the new stuff they added, all they're doing is turning the animated weapons into objects...the avionics, Radar and SMS are still intact and PROVEN since the fs2004 release....AND their SDK is designed to put all associated systems directly into a developers product without an out of place, and limited 2D panel. This is the tech that is changing the way mil-simmers play FS...not Weapon (and I have every right to say it having played around with it for almost a week.).

I personally like the CS Weapon better from what I've seen, and it looks like it can be more easily used with other addons. Plus I think the CS weapon looks better visually wise after seeing both videos posted...Just my 2 cents

Friggin' wooow! I really gotta get outta my Cub! I wasn't aware that weapons could be used in FSX yet. Both look good to me. I guess the VRS program can be added to the default F/A 18 and Aerosoft's F 16.? I might need put my yoke away and set up my stick...
