Your problem is not with the model.

FS-X came out before DX-10 was ready for release, and as such is not a "true" DX-10 application.  You may want to set your FS-X settings to use DX-9 compatibility.

As to your other problem, post a screenshot and describe it.  I find that in most planes, the "view to the front"  over the panel is not the best..

In either case, your problems are not design issues.

Answer to your white texture issue from Abacus' product support faq for the 787-Dreamliner:
FSX Q: Why do my aircraft appear white or blank with no textures in FSX?

FSX A: At this time it appears as though Microsoft/FSX is no longer supporting the FS2004 style of textures on aircraft in FSX SP2 running on Windows Vista with the DirectX 10 Preview option turned on. At this time, the only solution is to turn off the DirectX 10 Preview option in the Display Settings in FSX.

The 787-Dreamliner was designed for FS2004 and FSX so used older texture format which don't support DX10. The FSX default aircraft and many download aircraft do use textures that support DX10.

For your VC view issue: You can raise you view (called Eyepoint) by pressing [Shift+Enter]. For other Eyepoint-(move) commands check the Kneeboard>[Keys] page for the 'View Commands'.

To permanently raise the Eyepoint you can edit the 'aircraft.cfg' file. (Back up the file before editing) Find the [Views] section....it should look something like this. (This is only an example from the default Cessna 172. The values will be different in the 787)

[Views]
eyepoint= -3.95, -0.85, 1.9
