PMDG 747 FMC Question

Hello all,I have been using some youtube video tutorials to learn how to use the fmc,What I don't under stand is,do you still have to file a flight plain?the manual don't say anything,I cant find anything anyway.

No. It has nothing to do with the FSX flight planner.

You need to file a flight plan to use the Flight Sim ATC (Or any ATC service for that matter).  This, however, has nothing to do with the FMC.  The FMC is used for you to enter your flight plan mostly for navigational purposes, the autopilot, and various other functions specific to your aircraft; such as fuel remaining, vref, and so on.

You indeed need to make your own plan. I always use this online flight planner. Their routes are usually correct. Note that if you insert a flight plan, DON'T do so on the LEGS page, go to RTE and then to the next pages. Then enter the airways on the left, and after that the last waypoint of the airway on the right. So it looks like this:


KJFK DCT NEWES J225 RAALF STAR KBOS

DCT     NEWES

J225    RAALF

STAR   KBOS


Usually, with this flight planner the first waypoint is the last one of the SID you should use.
