Payware Fighter

I'm thinking of getting a new fighter for my birthday(today! ;D) and I want to know which one to get.

It's for FSX, and I want something with dropable weapons, but not the VRS SuperBug. I was thinking F-16 maybe?

Thanks! ;D

Other than the SuperBug, your not going to find a fighter that can drop bombs.
But I'd really recommend the Aerosoft F-16 if your looking for the ultimate "fly-the-aircraft" experience from a fighter add-on. It is so detailed, and a very nice thing to fly from start-up to shut-down.  :)

I think the IRIS F-16 drops ordinance. You may want to check that one out.

Thanks!

I forgot to mention that I wanted a fully clickable cockpit and the ability to do a cold-start. I assume by your post that it meets those requirements? Also, if I buy that, is there a tutorial on how to cold-start?

Well there's the manual.  :P ;D But seriously I think that is it for the Aerosoft F-16. Maybe you can find a youtube video or two.

I have, it looks cool! Can you cold-start it?

I have seen on some site(I'll post the link when I get back to my PC and my bookmarks.) some pics that shows a F-16 shooting down an AI 737, is that the IRIS F-16??

I've always wanted to do that!!!!! ;D :D

I do not own either F-16 product mentioned here, but judging by the overall quality of the model, I am assuming that a proper or near proper cold & dark startup procedure is possible.

If that is the way you want to do then the Aerosoft F16 can start up cold and dark and you will have to go through all procedures to start it and you will not be able to start it from cold and dark without reading the manual.  Most switches in the VC are clickable, the few that are not clickable are not used.

What's wrong with SuperBug? It looks amazing.

The only reason I didn't want the SuperBug is that I already have a bunch of Hornets. I agree, it does look amazing. ;D

Aerosoft F16 does NOT drop weapons.
Go to http://www.aerosoft.com/cgi-local/us/ib ... 5890,10285 and download the manual. It will tell you in black and white that they have NOT modelled any weapon systems in order to focus entirely on flight dynamics, systems models, etc. Anything viewed as "extra" or "cherry on top" got cut. However it does NOT mean that the aircraft isn't fun. It is definitely my favorite fighter, and flies like a dream. There are many reviews out there and they all agree that the F16 kicks major a$$  ;D
Something you might like: The Air to Air radar is functional, allowing you to track AI targets (read poor innocent 737s). You cannot shoot them down, but you can refuel from any AI jetliner by opening the refueling trap door and drifting 100ft back and 50ft below said jetliner. Not as realistic as I would like, but very hard nonetheless.
Anyway, I am biased, I have Aerosoft's version of the aircraft and love it so gather more info on IRIS, but I highly encourage you to download the manual at the above link so you can see what you can and cannot do.
Good luck  ;D

On one more note, the HUD is simply magnificent!! One of the best, if not the best, I've seen on payware.

Just an idea: don't want to be a heretic or anything. But if your going to fork out for Payware fighter might I recommend...
the "falcon 4.0 allied force" flight simulator dirt cheap on Amazon or eBay and its the closest thing to a real f-16 you can get without enlisting it also has a number of weapons to choose from ;) the graphics may not be as hot as FSX but its a whole simulator for less than the payware plane....(but the 700 page manual print out will cost a bomb!!)

I have thought about it and am thinking about getting it.

I have played it before at a friends house, it's really fun!
