question about payware scenery?

Hi guys, I am relatively new here, and a novice to FSX and aviation in general.  I have been doing alot of flights in the Colorado Rockies, and have purchased several Megascenery packs.
Whenever I decide to fly other locales however, its a let down going back to the default scenery.
I've been doing alot of internet searches, etc. and there seems to be so many different payware options out there.  I'd like to know what others thoughts are on the best payware options for enhancing scenery?

Thanks,
Jonathan

The Ultimate Terrain and Ground Environment sceneries are popular payware.

If you do not want to spend a bundle on MegaSceneryEarth products I suggest these:

Ultimate Terrain X (UTX), Ground Environment X (GEX), Scenery Tech (ST) and FS Genesis (FSG).  For water and clouds I also use Flight Environment X (FEX).  There is a freeware called Flight Simulator Water Configurator (FSWC) that you can also use.  While the above is not photo scenery the above greatly improves on the standard FSX scenery and is a lot cheaper.  UTX, GEX, ST and FSG have different areas of the world, you can start off with the US and Canada and go from there.  You can read on their websites what they do, each performs a different scenery ehnancement.

If FSG still has any lifetime memberships available, I think that they are called Galaxy Class, I would get one, it is well worth the money upfront and then you can download the whole earth.

While I do have photo scenery in some areas I would not fly anymore without the above in areas that do not have photo scenery.

Rod

My recommendation is similar except that I use REX (Real Evironment Xtreme) for water, clouds, and runway/taxiway replacement. On a somewhat related topic, I also highly recommend Shockwave's 3D Lights Redux for realistic external aircraft beacons, strobes, landing lights, etc.
