Hmmm, are you saving the theme so that the textures load up, before clicking the fly now tab? It can be a little tedious at first, but once you get it going you will absolutely love it!
My specs... A hard drive, motherboard, graphics card, some memory, a keyboard, mouse, and monitor - in other words, nothing special.

Think I've been out of synch with FSX and, yes, patience is not part of my DNA

I don't have REX, but if I understood correctly, when you select a theme, you have first to trigger the installation of this theme into FSX.

Basically, REX has to replace all the textures of FSX by the textures of the theme, for clouds, water etc... and this takes some time. When this is done, then you can launch FSX which will load normally, unaware that REX has modified its textures.

There must be something in the REX interface that you have forgotten to trigger. Sorry I can't give more precise details since I do not own this software :/

In a nutshell.
