Seeking opinions about VRS F/A 18-is it worth the money?

Postby L1011blonde » Thu Nov 12, 2009 3:41 pm

I'm considering buying the VRS F/A 18E.
From people who have it,is it worth the $45 price?
I'm running Flight Sim X,so should I buy it now or wait until the official FS X version is released?
(I don't want to repeat my earlier mistake with Flight1's Ultimate Traffic for FS2004,that was a nightmare-couldn't really give you one reason,it was just a bunch of little things going wrong.)

For the price...  no.

my neighbor has it and says its got tons of bells and whistles, but he would rather get FSX acceleration for the price. ;D

(So sorry about UT.  It sucks right? ;D)

If you don't have FS9, then definitely wait.

The FSX version is still at least a couple more months away* so it comes down to whether or not you want to wait. If you get the FS9 version now, there will be a discount (significant discount) when you order the FSX version. So its not a waste of money.

And personally, I think the $45 is very reasonable. In fact, its almost stealing. The aircraft IS the most realistic and in depth simulation of a military fighter available for MSFS (But be forewarned, this does mean you will be spending hours on hours studying the flight manual....). The flight model is a fully simulated FBW system that performs nearly identically to the official F/A-18E performance specs/ratings released by the US NAVY. And as far as the systems go, if its not simulated, its probably classified. If FS addons were supermodels, this would be Heidi Klum.

...and other companies (not to name names here...) is willing to charge that same price for a "OK" model with virtually no realism.

Go over to the website www.vrsimulations.com and the forum and have a look. If you like military fighters, this is as good as it gets, and the FSX version will be even better.

Jeff

*I'll check later for a updated work schedule, but this is probably the best I can do...

It's absolutely fantastic for FS9 until the release the FSX version, so if you have FS9, I would get it.  I reinstalled FS9 just for this and it's the only thing I fire up FS9 for.

Thanks for the opinions. I'll probably just wait until the official FS X version is released.
