I have FSGlobal 2008 as the mesh and Ultimate Terrain as the landclass (correct?) in FS 2004.
Is there another option/equivalent to Ultimate Terrain for FS2004?

From all I've gleaned, there are three potential layers - mesh - overlayed by land class - overlayed by texture.

Mesh is the shape of the countours of the terrain...... defining mountains and valleys and flats.
Landclass is the instructions that tell the graphics engine where on that mesh to put the various textures that represent things like cities, suburbs, farmland, deserts, and so on.
The last piece is the textures that get pasted onto the mesh according to the instructions from the landclass.
I run FSGenesis mesh for the whole world, including buffer mesh. I use the FSGenesis USA landclass. I also have FSGenesis Roads, Rivers, Rails, and Streams landclass. The textures are GroundEnvironment Pro and NuRoads Repaver. SOme minor freeware landclass addons in various parts of the rest of the world.
