FMC PMDG747 - "WHAT??!" I don't get it!!

Hey guys,

for all of you, who are familiar with the FMC of the PMDG, please help me! It HAS to be possible, to switch a ILS-frequency without programming all this enroute-stuff. I'd do it, but since I know that up-to-date NAVDATA costs money and I don't want to spend more money for an already payed aircraft, I'd like to have it just taking my frequency without saying "INVALID ENTRY"! I could kill this thing!!!

Why can't NAVRAD just take my entry like "111.10/231"?? Why can he take VORs and not ILS? How can I get the ILS to work? PLEASEE!!! :'( :'(

Thanks,

Conan  :-[

EDIT: I'm flying online on IVAO. That's why I need something, which works fast, in case the controller advises me to do anything different to my flightplan! And programming a goddamn bullish FMC is NOT FAST!!

PMDG 747 comes with resonably new nav data. Newer free ones are availible from the PMDG website. You enter nav frequencies into the NAV RADIO section of the FMC, I think this is ILS only though...

To track a VOR:

This should be in the payware board.

I just tried it with mine, and it worked perfectly, here are the steps I took:

I took a "Dummy" ILS frequency for Heathrow's 09R (109.5) and line-selected it into the ILS-MLS line (the one where PARK is displayed) in the format: 109.5/090, and the computer accepted it.

If you can't do it exactly as shown, talk to the folks at PMDG, as it might be a technical problem. ;)

Also, get the 1.2 update if you don't already have it, as it comes with 0802 cycle NavData (current cycle is 0805), and fixes a LOT of minor problems.

Maybe the FMC just needed a member of this forum to tell him that it actually works!

...beause now it works just fine. Thanks a lot to you guys! ;)
