I am interested in buying the FSX version of the Cpt Sim 757 - however I haven't been able to find out
(no reponse as yet to a support email I sent them)
whether the model has an active FMS or do I need to wait for the extra layer to be completed and made available for purchase.
If there is not yet a functioning FMC how is LNAV managed - through the default GPS or something similar?

CS757 is pretty detailed a a very nice looking model. Went to their website and it looks like the FMS is for FS9 only at this time. LNAV is typically engaged by a button on the autopilot. There is no interaction with the default GPS, infact, there isn't even one on payware aircraft.
My only word of caution: If you are going to buy the Captain Sim 757, you had better have a VERY good computer. It is a terrible framerate killer, and I have yet to meet a person that is happy with the purcahse.
Hope this helps,
Ferrari

Thanks for that. Yes I know how LNAV is engaged, but without a functioning FMC I couldn't work out how a flightplan could be inputted, hence my reference to maybe them using the default GPS as a temporary substitute.
I'll see if they answer and explain it to me. I just thought that there may be a SimV member who has this version.
Thanks for the warning on framerates. I guess it comes down to, compared to what. The Level D 767 can bring the system to its knees, is the CS757 better or worse?

I have the Level D, my computer can give me about 20FPS in the VC with it. CS757 will be much much worse of a frame-rate killer. If that's what it comes down to.
Just for an FYI, if you are thinking of getting (or already have), the PMDG 747 is about the same FPS hit as the PMDG747.

I have a fairly old computer, its cetainly not up to the standards of some on here. Yet the Level D for me runs as smooth as anything, even in VC over 9dragons Kai Tak its still smooth. Bit of a hit but its hardly noticeable. The PMDG 747 i find takes a bit of a knock on my system, but its flyable from the VC. And seriously good in the 2d, which i tend to use mainly in the 747 for flight planning and so on.
Dunno about the CS 757 - ive always heard its a frame rate killer - but then i heard the same about the other two and they are fine. I guess it depends on what your running and how your running it.

I have the CS 757 for FS9 and don't have a big problem with frames. I have a Core2duo 6600 and an Nvidia 7900, 2 gigs of memory. Can't speak for the FSX one, depends how well they optimised it for FSX I guess...

They haven't optimised it for FSX. It's a ported FS9 model, and as such, the frame rates are terrible. If it was a proper FSX model, it'd run as well as, if not better than the FS9 version does in FS9.

I remember when I bought the CS 757... The frames melted like a snowcone in Arizona... What a shame :-/
