I guess there are reality checks as well.  Just how real can it be, as distinct from how real need it be.

For an Australian the new FSgenesis mesh under UTX, GEX and Cloud 9 landclass is pretty darn good.  Not living in North America and Canada, although reasonably familiar with many parts, and most tourist places, I still could not differentiate sufficiently at this increased scale to make the impact on FPS and smooth worthwhile.

I live in Australia, and I find locally produced mesh, Cloud 9 landclass, barely adequate but the new FTX that is on the way should create a totally acceptable VFR landscape.

There is also a chance we are getting diverted from flying the plane to looking out the window.  I find myself in external view more than ever before, just enjoying the landscapes now availabe  --- and spending less time ensuring my technique is developing and improving.

Need and want are two different things - and I may not be alive in 2012!

Is it worth slowing the machine down anymore for an almost unnoticeable improvement in total terrain?
