Just installed Aerosofts Heathrow 2008, but doing so produces the below error on next boot, and all previous boot ups of Fs

Image

Any ideas on how to fix this, is there a possibility its not related to this recent install? Cheers

Hmm strange, I only get that error with scenery I deleted but not in the scenery.cfg. If you want to delete it from scenery.cfg just take a peek through that and delete it off there.

Laurence

Oh...I have loads of these from sceneries I've deleted and not uninstalled properly....just deleting the specified area from the scenery library does the trick :)

Also make sure you are running Heathrow 1.1......dont see why the version should be a problem, but you might as well get 1.1.....they've fixed a few things :)

Thats not to do with Heathrow. You have removed the Scenery files from the scenery folder in the FS directory and not removed the entry in the .cfg

Load up FS and and click OK to the error message, then go into the scenery library and remove the entry for that scenery. Or move the files back.

Your choice.

But if i remove it from the scenery library, it wont be viewable will it? i want to run it, not uninstall, what is the easiest way to do this, thanks for the advice, but i need some clarity! ::) ::)

alex - what do you mean i have moved "the files" from the scenery folder. what files would this be, and how is easiest  to move them back!

Effectively, what that error is saying is that "here is an entry in the scenery.cfg telling FS there is a file located in Flight Simulator 9/Scenery called AB_Airbus.

Firstly: Check in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\Scenery to see if there is a folder called AB_Airbus.

Is it there? If it is go into the scenery.cfg (BACK UP FIRST!) and delete the AREA.040. It should look like this [AREA.040. Then start up flight simulator, and re-select the folder called AB_Airbus. That should bring back the scenery.

If its not there, and you know what the scenery is. Redownload it, and put it inside the ADDON SCENERY folder (makes it easier for future reference) and add via the FS interface.

Even if the file comes with installation instructions telling you to add an area into the scenery.cfg manually, if you aren't sure it's usually wise to add it through FS just to be safe  ;)

Tell us how it goes.
