Ultimate Traffic

Postby gypsymoth » Mon Aug 27, 2007 12:51 pm

This has been suggested as something to get as I'm keen to see more aircraft flying in my skies.  I know nothing about it.
Is it any good or is there something better?
Thanks,
TW

Good detail, very convenient to install new airlines/models etc.
Accurate, however updates do cost money, but are well worth it  ;)

It's been a few years since I've used it but its a very very good AI addon.
The applications that come with it are worthy of the price themselves  :)

I wouldn't get Ultimate Traffic...It has substandard AI models, and has virtually no traffic outside North America...You go to the Middle East or Europe and you'll see what I mean...Moscow Shremetyevo which is fairly busy is almost empty...You'll see a BA Jet or 2 and that's about it...Down south in Italy, I only saw a total of 5 jets at LIRF...With my own traffic and with real timtables, I got the size upto around 40 jets...Which looks and sounds more realistic seeing as LIRF is Italy's busiest airport...Oh and did I mention that those AI models are FPS hogs...With my AI Aardvark and FSP aircraft which were more detailed, I was getting 20FPS at 100% traffic and FS9 maxed out at LHR...With UT, I was getting 10FPS...Buy it if you want, but I'd say it's a waste of money and HDD space...Just my 2 cents... ;)

I currently have a mix of AIAardvark WOAI and a number of other aircraft installed and they are more detailed but they defiantly eat more FPS than the UT ones. ;)

Well, I don't know...I didn't like UT at all...I forgot to mention how sometimes, my AI would be 16000ft up and would say that it was on final...I also saw a 747 nosedive to reach its destination...LOL...But you have to agree, UT sparsely populates AI outside North America... :P

True, but europe is good, the downfall is the lack of charter carriers, not scheduled services.

And that would be the FS AI engine to blame for that, UT only provides aircraft and flightplans, not altitudes and speeds, thats ATC  ;)

Scheduled services...Alitalia, the national carrier of Italy and member of SkyTeam was as sparse as could be...With my own AI and with real schedules, I had an MD-80 land at LIRF almost every 5 mins which is true to real life...With UT, MD-80's were rare...When I checked out LIRF, I found a handful of aircraft sitting on the tarmac...No airlines from the far east...I let the sim run itself in real time for around 6 hours and constantly waited for an airline from the far east to arrive but none came...I know Cathay Pacific, Air China, and Thai all fly here on a daily basis...I think if Flight1 added more flights from the far east, Middle East, Africa, and Asia, they would have top notch product...

Cheers,
Ashar ;)
