Could someone provide a beginners guide to the rash of scenery enhancements now on, or coming on to the market.
I can understand mesh,
but after that terrain, textures, environment, clouds and weather, become confusing
What goes with what, what does not.
If I buy the new active sky product for FSX, I am told it won't go with FEX, but does FEX add to or conflict with UTX, and Cloud 9, or BEV????

No conflicts other than Flight Environment X and ASX
As for other addons not mentioned, I dont know
The only other thing you want to be aware of is you should not use 2 landclasses of the same location, like Cloud9 and FS Genesis for USA. And when you install one or the other with Ultimate Terrain, the landclass must be listed in the scenery library in the right order so UT works with the landclass.
Setup for UT I found is pretty much default, except I changed many of the widths, like the ocean and lake pier width, road and railroad side border easement widths which were WAY too wide on my system. That can be done through the UT configuration utility.
I also reduced the night lighting effects to 25% and to tell you the truth, I am not really impressed with them anyway. The 'glow balls' are too big and out of scale and they tend to flash on and off in grids, like the power company is flipping the switch. I may just shut the night lighting off all together.

Ground Environment Pro is great although the textures are blurry from a distance which annoys me a bit. :-/

GE Pro is only for FS9
They are discussing FSX. GE pro will not work in FSX

They are better than the FS textures by far. And I'm guessing the blurryness would be down to your video card having to cope with 'larger' file sizes.
