PMDG 747-400 problem

Postby 2992 » Sat Mar 10, 2007 2:39 pm

I am experiencing a problem with my PMDG 747-400 in FS9.

After climbing through about 13000 feet my FMC will tell me that my maximum flight level is 15800 feet (sometimes it will give me maximum flight levels round about 16000 feet). So I continue to fly but at about 15000 feet my flight simulator closes. This happens everytime I fly the pmdg 747-400. In my FMC I have entered my correct flight level which is usaully above 30,000 feet and the whole aircraft is started up following the noarmal procedures checklist.

Anybody know the nature of this problem and how it can be solved? Help would be greatly appreciated ;)

Usually it will tell me a max flight level, but the sim has never shut down on me upon reaching it. Hopefully someone can help you.

I cannot help with the crashing of the sim, but check both in the FMC, and possibly (I'm not entirely sure without fireing up the sim but there MAY be something in the general PMDG settings) and check the 'Trasition altitude' If 16000 is when your aircraft starts levelling out click the centre of the HPA knob on the glare shield, this will adjust the barometer pressure to 29.92, which should allow you to continue your climb  ;)

Seems to be solved :)

Glad to hear, is this because of what I said, or has the problem seemed to resolve itself?  :D

I tried what you told me, reinstalled the 747 and tried a few other things, so I can not exactly tell where the problem was. Thanks a lot for our help, it might have made the difference ;)

Make sure to not get the FMC into approach mode, let me dig my brain how that is done... I'll get back to you... ;)
