Hey guys,
I am seriously considering buying Active sky 6, but was just wondering, is there any hit on frames? Are they better or worse than stock/FSW? Do you guys who have it feel its worth it? The reviews on Simmarket make it seem like people think its great, but I don't want to take a massive hit on frames.
Thanks for any input,
|Alex|
PS. If anyone could post any pics, I would love them! No, not in that way ::)

I second that...Active Sky is by far my best weather investment yet

Just see any of my threads in the Payware Screenies board

Thanks guys! That is exactly what I wanted to hear!

Looks like this one is going in my sim pretty soon then! Along with maybe Pearson field, and FlyTampa KSFO!
Cheers,

get it, definitely! it adds so much more interest in flying, as you never know what weather you will meet; im only flying with it. And no impact on FPS, except when there are a LOT of clouds, but thats normal.
And a few times I tested it at my local airport to see if the weather in the sim was the same as outside my flat...it was EXACTLY the same! so amazing...

Just got it recently, and so far it can be pretty harsh on the framerates when in Online mode... but I can attribute that mostly to my soon-to-be-retired-from flightsimming 5700LE.
But it's not too bad... the occasinal drops to 10-15 fps are worth the realism and "eye candy"... I was just completely fed up with everything about the default FS9 weather.

there is a HUGE difference in the density of the clouds, they are far less filled with 3d renderings, they will improve your framerate, as for realism, im not so sure, I prefer the default sky and REPro for clouds, it all comes down to personal cloud realism preference in the end

With AS6 you can change the resolution and type of the textures. I have a X850XT and I find 512x512 DXT3 textures the best
