Personally I would recommned working my way up to the left seat on the 747

Start in the Cessna, move on to a twin, then the DC3 and so on.
But don't get me wrong when I first bought FS9 I did the same as everyone else jumped into the biggest aircraft available before realizing that this isn't the way to go about starting a simming career LMAO!!

Enter all the information you can. If you don't know, put random numbers.
for the route, put a ICAO code, such as YSSY into the departure and KLAX into the arival. Only change the ICAO codes to your airport.
If you weight 500 000pounds, enter your weight as 500.0. Put cost index 50-10 000.
Takes some getting used to. I have the PMDG 737 then I got the LAGO Md-80 and PMDG 747. Both have similar FMCs.
Also, reading the manual did it for me, or you could try an online one which might be here at simviation or at
www.avsim.com

I actually dont see how spending countless of hours in smaller aircrafts would help him to solve his problem, since none of the default aircraft are as advanced as the PMDG 744.
He has FMC issues, not flying issues (well maybe he got'em too but hiding it reslly well ;D )

While we're on the subject of the PMDG 747, does anyone know how to get the vortices from the wintips to show? Does it depend on atmospheric conditions????

I came very close to buying that package my self I also own the Airbus 320/340 it also has a working FMC but it has a couple of good tutorials on how to use it. If you can send me your email in a private message I will be more than glad to send you the files the FMC should be the same at least I hope so.
The hardest part of the fmc is knowing what to put where and in what mode to be in.

The Airbus A340 and Boeing 744 have quite different interfaces to their respective "FMC".
The PMDG 744 actually comes with a VERY detailed 60page FMC guide which guides you step by step.

I based my reply on the first sentence
I a very new to the world of flight simulators but I alsways fancy flying
I have often found many stop flying FS9 due to the fact they start in a complex aircraft first such as vikramsokhi is doing. Im sure you can agree with me that FS9 in not a game

So my reply is rather reasonable whereas yours, well thanks for the constructive criticism, I'll take note and reply more on topic next time.

I'm not trying to start anything mate, but look at it from his side: I dont think he wants to be told "well lad, go ahead and fly the DC3" because it wont really help with his problem. Now he probably wont take it that way, but you never know, weirder things have happened around here :)
That was my point, no need to feel attacked :-[

Go to their website and download the lessons. A truly valuable way of learning the FMc step by step. I believe it is lesson one. Should be all you need to get you up and flying. Todd

Having just read the full 49-page PMDG 737 FMC manual, I feel that that would be the best bet.
