PMDG 747 - Planning route?

Hey guys,

I was just wondering what is the best way to plan and input the route into the FMC, reading the flight plan and manually entering the points gets a bit tedious. Any useful tools to help this?

FSNavigatior  is the way I transfer my flighplans in to PMDG format. Youll need to download the PMDG Export module to do this.

If you get FSNavigator ..... there's a 30 use free trial ..... after that you have to purchace it. It's well worth the money as it is useful for all your flightplaning needs IFR or VFR.

So it will choose each leg? What about the SIDs and STARs?

You can let FSNav choose the route for you ..... or manually set it up yourself ..... after that you just export the route and choose it through the FMC Co Route input. Sids and stars can be downloaded for FSNav although its better to choose them through the FMC and adjust the route there (That's what I've found others may say different.).

Like eno said, FSNavigator is a useful tool, though it gets a bit tedius when it comes to airways.  Another alternative, is the site http://www.fsroute.com/.  You kind of have to know the intersections and airways for that, but you can save it as a PMDG flight plan.

I also recommend flightaware.com sometimes if you want to look at some real world flight plans.

As for SIDS and STARS, FSNavigator does have them, but a lot of times its not accurate as to the real world chart.  Those you kind of have to download each chart and flight plan on your own  :)

FSRoute does actually look quite good. However, when exporting to to PMDG it says "Except 747"?  ???

Also, the 'Airways' and 'Intersections' links on the website don't work for me.

The 747 and 737 use the same format for flightplans so it's worth giving it a try.
