FMS/ SID STAR

When entering data into the FMS for Arrival Information is there a way to know which runway will be considered the active? To make it seem more life like, I would like to enter my information before I get to the airport. I can choose any runway but it may not be the one the ATC wants me to land at. Also, the time I get close enough to contact the tower at any airport, you are to close to make a correct STAR approach. Is there a way around this?
Thanks,
Wes :)

anticipate, anticipate, anticipate.
Check out METARS, transitions etc. Which runway is likely to be in use?
It's not that hard if you know which info to use and which to disregard.
Know the airspace you're flying out of and into, or else you have to use trial/error with the PLAN-mode.

Its one of those annoying FSisms. In fact that would be a nice addition to a later edition of FS - a section in the ATC pop-up window allowing you to enter an airfield/identifier code and call up their present airfield details (you'd be able to do the same thing in the "real" world)...
Wonder if MS have thought of that?
