I know I could probably ask this question in the forums by PMDG, but it sounds so basic I don't want to get told to "read the manuals."

I read up a lot in the manuals to understand how to use the plane, to try not to sound too newbish.

I know you can use the auto pilot to fly the landing for you...

how do you do that?

You must set the runway info from the FMC into the Radios (R) then press VOR/LOC and when you are cleared hit the aproach button on the auto pilot (A/P)...also you might want to turn all the autopilots on (I think that is for a CAT III landing)

thats the basics...I have school so I can't get into depth right now

What Jr. means is that when you have chosen arrival runway, the ILS freq. will show up in the "INIT" page on the FMC.

For an autotland, the aircrafts autopilots needs to be in a fail safe mode, which basicly is flying the approach with BOTH autopilots engaged. This obviously requires you to set the ILS freq into BOTH nav radios aswell, since AP2 uses the nav data from #2 VHF NAV.

Just fly the approach normally, before 800ft AGL you should have activated the other autopilot.
Autothrottles needs to be operating aswell.

Good Luck!

Here's a link to Brad Marsh's page, a real 737 pilot and sim hobbyist in NZ. He has a "geezer's" guide/walkthrough for a 737 flight across the two islands.

If you do autoland too often you will find it boring.
