Koch Media/Altitude Concorde...

Postby 737NGCapt » Wed Nov 10, 2004 4:22 pm

With the soon arrival of the PMDG 744 and MD-11, Longhauls seem to be on my mind. Anyone have any comments on the Koch Media/Altitude Concorde? Things such as the visual model, panel, realism, etc. Does the Koch Media Concorde also have any type of FMC? Adding to this list, i've been thinking of picking up the Captain Sim 707 & 727, anyone have any comments on these also? Do they also have any type of FMC? Any input is greatly appreciated!

Ive heard that the Altitude Concorde is definitely not a jump in and fly bird, that it is set up as realistically as possible, where everything has to be done according to the normal flights of a real Concorde, or you wont even get it off the ground.

As for the 707 and 727 I dont remember if they ahve an FMC. I just use autopilot on the 707, and program the AP in the 727 and fly along the prejected flight path by stick as it doesnt fly by GPS navigation.

This has to be the best add-on I have bought. It was worth it for the panel alone. 95% of the aircrafts systems have been replicated and certified by real Concorde flight crew including the flight dynamics. The flight dynamics are that real, that the aircraft even produces the yaw on application of full power as engine No 4 holds at 60% N1 for a few seconds.

Concorde didn't have an FMC. It navigated by using INS. The package out of the box dosn't contain any INS but does make provisions for the brilliant CIVA INS gauge which is identical to the INS system used on Concorde. It even has to be programmed the same way.

There is a very comprehensive manual to accompany it along with real flight plans, checklist's charts and performance charts.

It is a very hard aircraft to learn to fly but worth it in the end. The support of their website is second to none aswell.

I'll wait and see how the PSS concorde is welcomed by the simulator community. I don't know any beta testers for PSS, unlike with PMDG, Flight1 ATR, SSW etc, so I have no clue how it will perform, it can be a success or a bust - from a hard core simmer's POW

What's wrong with older aircrafts?
At least you get to learn how to REALLY fly?  8)  :)
