Another 737NG question.

I've just purchased this fantastic bit of kit.
However I've reached a stumbling block straight away.

I'm trying to complete the introductory flight from the manual. Everything is going fine untill it comes to starting the engines.
It says to start the right hand engine first... I place all the switches in the right position and nothing ... zip... nada not a peep .... just the sound of the APU. If I reverse everything and start the left engine it fires up perfectly.

Even after this the right engine won't start.  :-[ :-[ :'(

Any help solving this problem would be most appreciated.

cheers
eno

the manual is right, first start engine 2 (right hand side) and then no1.

You got the APU up and running, and you can start the left engine but not the 2nd. So what's wrong here?
You obviously have pneumatic pressure to spool up the N2, and there is nothing wrong with the fuel supply (cutoff switch in idle) since you can fire up engine 1.

BUT...I can assure you that the culprit here is the isolation valve. It needs to be OPEN to let the bleed travel from the left duct (where the APU bleed air comes from) to the right. If the isolation valve is closed there is no way to get pneumatic pressure to initiate the startup sequence for engine 2.

So put the isolation valve in OPEN position, and then close it when both engines are up and running  :)

Thanks Nexus you were spot on............ I sussed it after the 6th attempt ....... got everything working fine and dandy now.

Next thing is to master the finer points of the FMC having completed the introductory flight without incident.
