Where can I buy a DHC-5 Buffalo?

Postby OldAirmail » Wed Oct 05, 2016 9:46 pm

With all the good Canadian & North West US scenery that I have I'd like to buy a de Havilland DHC-5 Buffalo this fall/winter.

But WHERE?

I've tried the two DHC-5 that are available here on SimV, but they're a little dated, not to mention that the cockpit has a large black box blocking most of the windshield.

Are you using it in P3D? I just ran it in FSX Accel and it looks OK, dated yes but no black box.

I have found one here at http://www.rikoooo.com/en/downloads/viewdownload/0/165. I have just downloaded it and don`t know about it but have downloaded other aircraft from them and it was a good flyer. I hope this helps.

I don't think there's any decent Buffalo for P3D yet.
The other models were done by Alphasim or Premier Aircraft Design, all made for FS9 and quite dated by today's standards.

I have FSX and there's no problem there. It's only in Prepar3d.

There no need to suggest fixing the problem, for me at least. I'll keep waiting until a better model comes along.

Thanks for the help.

But how's the model ? Can you post some screenshots of the external model and the virtual cockpit ?

It's an FS9 model created with an early version of FSDS. The VC is fairly basic & it suffers from the usual display bugs with FS9 models in FSX - props behind clouds etc. (In my experience, & with a few notable exceptions, FS9 aircraft created with FSDS are generally worse in this respect than the Gmax alternatives.) I should point out that it was the best available at the time but things have moved on since then.

There are 2 different versions & both are available here at SimV. Note the dates they were uploaded. http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=dhc-5&categoryId=54

Hi Airmail,

I know it's not a Buffalo but the De Havilland DHC-4 (C-7) Caribou is pretty similar: http://www.fspilotshop.com/product_info ... 82&ref=372

It's for FS2004/FSX but I've had it running in P3D v3 with no issues, I was going to double check it but my motherboard recently died & I've only just started to reinstall everything!

Keith.

Thanks, Keith. That works for me.

It's close enough to what I wanted and PCAviator has an "OCTOBER SALES" going on (it's only $11.48). That makes it a no-brainer. :D

BTW - The download has both the FS9 & the FSX version for that price.

Good price, not so sure... Looks at that virtual cockpit modelling... This model is so old it shouldn't be payware anymore...
For 12 dollars currently you can get some Alabeo planes thanks to the sales...

That interior shot is the worst of it. That's why I included it.

But for the price ($11 - $12), and as there's no better choice, the rest of it isn't all that bad.

The freeware that I tried in FSX (where it did work) looked much worse.
