Looking for the monkey.

I bought New York City X while it was on sale.

Unfortunately, I can't fly over it for more than a couple of minutes before it crashes to the desktop due to an out memory error.

My system
i5-2500K @ standard speed - 3.3GHZ
16GB DDR3 RAM
3 drives - OS on a 256GB SSD, 1TB standard hard drive with 64MB cache, and another 256GB SSD for Prepar3d.
Video card - R9 280X PCIE GDDR5 3GB.

For the briefest of time, it does look very good. :D

For the briefest of time. :(

I've tried various memory saving settings, but they extend the time to only a few seconds more.

An alternate "low setting" is an option, but that too crashes P3d also, and it looks horrible.

I'm not going to give it a bad review. I'll just say that you'll need something far better than what I have to fly the full length of Manhattan.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . In the mean time

(In a Helldiver, the aircraft used in both the classic 1933 movie and the 2005 remake of King Kong.)

Side note - I also bought New York Airports X, and can highly recommend it.

Not a bit of trouble.

But then remember - I have 16GB of fast DDR3 RAM in the computer, & 3GB of DDR5 on the video card.

Have you tried Switching Off the computer BEFORE loading the Flight Sim, to get rid of various; "clutter stuff" beforehand?

I usually switch off and start my various Games, etc, with a "clean" computer.

Most of my "memory" is vacant to start with!... ...!

Paul.... ...!

Midtown Manhattan

This is the "reduced" New York City X.

If it weren't for the little bungalows (very small houses) mixed into the midtown/lower Manhattan buildings it might be all right.

Tried that and most of what was in the "manual". And if I reduce it enough to work you see the results above. :(

More NYC.

I've uninstalled New York City X.

These are the Orbx/P3d version of NYC.

Not much like the real NYC, but better than the simplified NYC-X.

And here's the plain FSX NYC for comparison. Not all that bad.
