FSX: the Cessna 172 Accusim is out !

Postby Daube » Tue Sep 03, 2013 7:37 am

Just a small topic to inform you that the newest creation from A2A Simulations, the Cessna 172 Trainer is now available for purchase.
An important point is that for the very first time, it is not possible to buy the aircraft alone, the Accusim extension is built inside so you can only buy the full package, at approx. 50 dollars, which is more or less the same price as the older packages plane+Accusim extension for that plane.

I bought it yesterday and quickly made a first flight. As expected, A2A has once again set a new definition for realism and immersion. If you look at the official videos showing the features of that plane, you will immediately understand what I'm speaking about. For a short summary:
- the plane has a fantastic level of details, both for the external model and the virtual cockpit
- a payload manager will allow you to select the amount of fuel, as well as number and position of passengers (you decide who goes where, only visible in external model)
- the sounds are fantastic, and just like previous warbirds, you can also activate headphones which filter the engine/wind noise (also visible in external model)
- the Accusim module has been pushed far over anything done until now. You can now perform the pre-flight checks, with predefined external views and a convenient set of 2D popups which let you take a glance at the fuel, oil, various organs etc... and their status.
- just like ealier Accusim modules, your engine will get wear and damage based on what you do, not randomly.
- unlike earlier Accusim modules, your plane will age EVEN IF YOU DON'T USE IT ! Accusim considers your plane to be in the hangar. If you don't use it for several weeks/months, the fuel and oil will get old, and the oil might cause corrosion inside the engine.
- many other features I forgot.

Enjoy <<q

As someone who has built a whole flight simulator cockpit around the Cessna 172 I am excited to be adding this aircraft to my hangar!

Bought it today. Don't know what to think of it yet. Can't move the rudder unless you use a joystick with twist grip or rudder pedals. It doesn't respond to assigned buttons. The rest of the plane looks wonderful though.

Hi Crash.
Do you have any turning knobs on your joystick?
Have you tried to check the autorudder?

Yes Bass, autorudder is off. I have a Saitek X-52 (with twistgrip) and if I use that it works fine. Using my Saitek yoke however, the rudder doesn't move. I assigned two buttons for rudder movement (yaw left and yaw right) but no response. Now I could use my X-52 for flying the Cessna ofcourse but that's a waste of my yoke, throttle quadrant and trimwheel...

I meant you could try to turn autorudder on.

I dont have the Saitek x-52, but as far as i can see, you have some turning knobs on your throttle stick!
Try to set the one nearest your left thumb to rudder axis inside control axis...

Maybe i'm completely wrong on what stick you got there (twistgrip)! If your yoke can twist, then point that to rudder axis.

Been reading up on this on the A2A forums. Plenty of people having troubles with it. Rudder pedals that don't work, switches that will not respond. I'm waiting for a major update. For now I consider it a nice piece of crap worth $50. Too bad you can't return downloaded software...
