10 minutes left to the download.

Thanks for the notice.

BTW - Don't chose the "cloud" download, it's 3 times slower - 1.5 hours.

I chose the first choice and it had a download estimate of 28 minutes.

A lot better!

In some ways 100 percent better. In some ways similar to standard FSX.

The biggest pro - mountain sides don't look like melted wax Crayons. The ground looks 100 percent better. The price had been estimated at $199 to $205. ACTUAL prices is $90 to $100.

Biggest con - Roads and houses are still on tiny islands. Big FPS hit (but then again, I haven't made ANY adjustments).

I flew about 10 minutes in a few places, and now have to go to sleep.

Well worth buying for $100.

YAHOOOOOOOO! :character-oldtimer:

My overnight download (to here in Pennsylvania USA) failed, so this morning I tried FlashGet, the funny Chinese free download manager... and I got all of it's 4+GB off the CLOUD in only:

23 minutes.

Take that Internet! And if anyone asks, China has just overtaken us...

Now ORBX has TAKEN OVER TEH WORLD!!!! MWAHAHAHAH!

But seriously, it is simply gorgeous! by FAR the best addon I've EVER purchased!

:? I believe I already told you it was only around $100........... like.......... DAYS ago.......... the openLC-landclass packs will roll out eventually and combined, that'll double the price soon enough.

 Really.....? It performs perfectly the same as default for me, all autogen, detail radius and texture resolutions maxed... it even performs better than ORBX regions do! I get zero-FPS impact............ 8-)

 to ORBX!

.......now to start an Around the World flight! <<q

This makes FSX a totally new flight sim!

I've been doing a lot of flying today.

I just flew from LSTS (St. Stephan, Switzerland) to LSGG (Geneva) in a C-172. WHAT A FLIGHT!

In all seriousness This really does make FSX a new and impressive flight sim.

The very first flight sim that I tried (FS 2 or 3) was more like a skills game. And, to me, boring.

Twenty plus years later I tried FSX.

FSX is enjoyable, and mostly satisfying.

BUT what a world of difference now!

The suspension of disbelief that FTX Global brings to FSX is well worth the money. Flying over areas that you know well, may not look like the real thing, but that doesn't matter for the most part.

Enough new points of interest have been added to make it easier to recognize where you are.

EVERYTHING looks good, both close to the ground, and from above the clouds.

But it's a lot better for what has been removed too. In the stock FSX, Valley Forage is a fairly well developed residential area. It's much better now. A little more in the way of trees than in real life, but also much more in the way of open areas.

Finally, looking down lets you think that you really are flying.

I CAN NOT Imagine flying without FTX Global. If you have to, beg, borrow, or steal enough money to buy it.

" I believe I already told you it was only around $100........... like.......... DAYS ago.......... "

Like .......... days ago, there were more people speculating about the price. Some may have been factoring in the costs of the 7 OpenLC (LandClass) packs too.

"It performs perfectly the same as default for me, all autogen, detail radius and texture resolutions maxed... it even performs better than ORBX regions do! I get zero-FPS impact............"

Your system is better than mine I suppose. That and I'm running 3 large monitors, 3 small monitors (one a separate GPS), and a Saitek Flight Instrument Panel along with Plan G.

So my system simply has more to keep up with. Different hardware. Different OS. Different background programs.

The "Big" FPS drop that I thought I saw was at 1:30 in the morning. There is a drop, for me, of about 5 FPS. This makes my average FPS somewhere between 30 and 40, depending on the situation.

I've never gave much a damn about how high my FPS were. To me if they were over 30 that meant that I could move the sliders ever higher.

But even if it dropped down to 25 FPS, the improvement that FTX Global makes, and the enjoyment that it gives me, would make it worthwhile.

Had I bought this first I probably would never had bought MegaSceneryEarth - Pennsylvania.

And FTX Global TOTALY blows FScene4X TotalPack away.

A fool and his money....

Gegj, thanks again for the notice last night. You've made my weekend.

To all who have d/l it - congratulations! As a somewhat irregular contributor here, I felt the least I could do was inform others of what I have found to be the best thing in FSX/P3d in a decade. There is so much eye candy to look at now. I have not seen any performance/fps hit to speak of but then I am not a stat whore, if the flight is 90% smooth it's all good... I flew in Hawaii this evening, out of Ford Island and must say the downtown scenery is great, never tried it at night yet, but areas like Innsbruck Switzerland at night, are challenging and hauntingly beautiful in winter, under a full moon.....this definitely brings flight simming back to what I had always hoped it would evolve to.... can't wait for the library of land classes to be developed now... happy flying - very well worth the hundred bucks.....<<r

Someone, a week or 2 ago, had asked about scenery for Aruba. I've known people who go there, but I've never even thought of going there.

So off I went, in FSX, to visit the island. And let me tell you, the way that Aruba looks in stock FSX is so bad that a goat wouldn't go there. It really is bad.

At some point in my all-day fly-a-thon I took off from Aruba's only airport. With FTX Global loaded Aruba looks as good as a small flattish island can get. Not bad at all.

FTX Global may not fix all of the problems in FSX, but it does improve it tremendously.
