This makes FSX a totally new flight sim!I've been doing a lot of flying today.
I just flew from LSTS (St. Stephan, Switzerland) to LSGG (Geneva) in a C-172.
WHAT A FLIGHT!In all seriousness This really does make FSX a new and impressive flight sim.The very first flight sim that I tried (FS 2 or 3) was more like a skills game. And, to me, boring.
Twenty plus years later I tried FSX.
FSX is enjoyable, and mostly satisfying.
BUT what a world of difference now!The suspension of disbelief that FTX Global brings to FSX is well worth the money. Flying over areas that you know well, may not look like the real thing, but that doesn't matter for the most part.
Enough new points of interest have been added to make it easier to recognize where you are.
EVERYTHING looks good, both close to the ground, and from above the clouds.
But it's a lot better for what has been removed too. In the stock FSX, Valley Forage is a fairly well developed residential area. It's much better now. A little more in the way of trees than in real life, but also much more in the way of open areas.
Finally, looking down lets you think that you really are flying.I CAN NOT Imagine flying without FTX Global. If you have to, beg, borrow, or steal enough money to buy it.
" I believe I already told you it was only around $100........... like.......... DAYS ago.......... "Like .......... days ago, there were more people speculating about the price. Some may have been factoring in the costs of the 7 OpenLC (LandClass) packs too.
"It performs perfectly the same as default for me, all autogen, detail radius and texture resolutions maxed... it even performs better than ORBX regions do! I get zero-FPS impact............"Your system is better than mine I suppose. That and I'm running 3 large monitors, 3 small monitors (one a separate GPS), and a Saitek Flight Instrument Panel along with Plan G.
So my system simply has more to keep up with. Different hardware. Different OS. Different background programs.
The "Big" FPS drop that I
thought I saw was at 1:30 in the morning. There is a drop, for me, of about 5 FPS. This makes my average FPS somewhere between 30 and 40, depending on the situation.
I've never gave much a damn about how high my FPS were. To me if they were over 30 that meant that I could move the sliders ever higher.
But even if it dropped down to 25 FPS, the improvement that FTX Global makes, and the enjoyment that it gives me, would make it worthwhile.
Had I bought this first I probably would never had bought MegaSceneryEarth - Pennsylvania.
And FTX Global TOTALY blows FScene4X TotalPack away.
A fool and his money....
Gegj, thanks again for the notice last night. You've made my weekend.
