Problems when installing Orbx' PNW

Postby coolness » Sun Apr 14, 2013 1:41 pm

I have just purcased Orbx's Pacific Northwest addon for FSX, but i can't install it! I have already posted a thread in Orbx's own forum, but that has given me no solution to the problem yet.

After the download is complete, i extract the downloaded folder to a temporary location and run the installer, just as i should. It takes about 15-30 minutes for the installer just to unwrap at prepare for the install (which is really annoying), and after that it quickly installs the contents to the main FSX folder... well, that is what is says, but when i look into the many folders within the main FSX folder, it does not seem like anything has been installed. When i open FSX nothing has changed, except that almost all my ai traffic has disappeared. I can't find any trace of the addon in the FTX central either. I have tried to re-install over and over and i am out of ideas. Does anybody in here have any experience with Orbx products or some good advices?

Thanks in advance!

Where on your pc do you have FSX?
Is the installer pointed to the right direction?
Do you have a copy of FSX elsewhere? (.exe sometimes finds the easiest way)
Have you tried to open the .exe file and make a manual install?

Fixed it. Turned out that the installer needed at least 10 GB or so of free space on the hard drive, and i only had about 9 GB (waaay to many fsx addons!).
Thanks for the advices though (:

Always make sure that you have plenty of spare space on your Hard Drive for various Windows programs to use as required...>>> http://www.computerhope.com/jargon/s/swapfile.htm

Sometimes our best teacher is realizing our own misfortune of mistakes we make, and going on from there to the next problem.

Well done.

Yes! I allways keep at least 30% free space on any HD.
