Repainting Carenado

Postby CODY614 » Mon Dec 08, 2008 7:24 am

Good day all.
I need to start by saying this is not meant as a negative topic against Carenado payware!...I own all of their products and love them to no end!
And I love to repaint them even more!
But it is aimed at asking them to return to the "Old way of texture mapping the planes they make"
I didnt' want to post this in "Designer Feedback" for fear of them possibly not seeing it.
O-kay....here goes.
I cried when I saw how the Cessna 152II was mapped! "Mirrored!"
Small space to place registration numbers. Most US based planes have rather large "N-numbers" on the rear fuse. This is not possible with the 152.
Here,take look...

Not enough room allowed on the template to apply the numbers like this.
And for the planes across the pond from me...Well it gets even worse!

HB-CXW can't be repainted properly either...They also mirrored the the wings!
So...the thing is I know they would have to re-do almost everything to fix this...But!....With the Skyhawk and T-Tail Arrow coming I hope they re-think the current repaint templates and go back to the old style!

There are so many great schemes for the 2 planes they have coming. But to limit the number of repaints that can be done properly would be terrible.
Again this is more of plea than picking on the wonderful aircraft that Carenado has done or is doing!

Have you tried mirroring the text, before applying?

Anxyous...I wish it were that easy.

Look at how the lower wing is mirrored....And the fuse around HB-CXW. note behind it.
The small registration is all the room you get....you really have to work the repaint to fully understand it.
