Dare I disable?

I run Just Flight's 'Traffic,' but I'm thinking of temporarily disabling it so that I can install, try out and compare the rival MyTrafficX. Is this feasible? I gather I should be able to temporarily disable  'Traffic' by renaming its bgl to bak, or whatever. But for me that would be a major and possibly fraught step. Can anyone confirm that this would be a safe thing to do?

I would just do the safe thing and uninstall it properly.
