Ultimate Terrain USA and Mesh

Postby abrock5 » Sat Dec 15, 2007 7:46 pm

I just purchased UTUSA for FS9 and started downloading some of the 70m mesh here at SimV.  The land looks great, but some of the lakes/rivers have large mounds or valleys in the middle of them due to the moved bodies of water from UT.  I was just wandering if payware mesh (fsgenesis, fsterrain, etc) lines up better with UT, or if all mesh programs have some problems with bodies of water.  Thanks!

That is a drawback of UT. If you do a web search there are some "fixes" out there that are available that will take care of some of these issues. Terrain mesh does seem to help out, Im using FSGensis global mesh, but its not 100%. Another problem created by the mesh some airports will be sunken into the ground :P

You will also notice some of your static scenery will be misplaced, bridges over water always look crappy. You can turn off bridges in the UT interface and set an offset for streams.

Try a search for "UT FIXES"

Alas a lot of default scenery can have issues with meshes. However most freeware add-on developers clearly tell you if their scenery is compatible with certain meshes. I use UT Canada and Alaska and love it even if you do get the odd road running up the side of a mountain at angles that'd freak out a Land Rover ;D
