It's a very realistic plane.

Probably the most realistic GA/Prop plane I know of.

The Pro and Simple modes just change exactly how realistic it is I believe.

Simple version is basically a plane that you start & fly just like your other aircraft.

Pro version actually needs maintenance. It responds and acts like the real thing.
You will need to change the oil, etc...
Parts break and you will need to replace them.
Example. If you have a prop strike on the aircraft, it will have a bend prop and not be able to be flown until you request it be repaired. You will need to go through the steps to have it repaired. My repair took about 15 minutes while I sat there as it was fixed. Even if you exit out of the simulator and reload it, your aircraft will still have the bent prop and still be un-flyable.

It is pretty cool if you are into trying to fly and maintain the real thing

You won't see it being fixed. There is no repair man coming into the screen with his toolbox. You just give the order to fix your plane, go drink some coffee and eat a sandwich and when you come back your plane will be fixed.

It's definitely a great plane. The cockpit shakes, the interiour rattles and it makes a lot of noise......

Crash ;)

The DO-27 is a great plane from Digital Aviation/Aerosoft, but it is unlike anything I've ever seen in FS.

It's probably the best General Aviation aircraft you can possibly get (Along with other Digital Aviation ones).

Does it work in FSX?, the site says FS9, but Aerosoft says FSX & FS9 :-/

It has been patched to work in FSX, so yes.
