Question about Flight1 scenery enhancemt eents

Postby FridayChild » Wed Dec 27, 2006 10:42 am

I'd like to know if Flight1's FlightEnvironment, GroundEnvironment and UltimateTerrain just install files in the FS2004 folders (replacement textures with the same name as the originals, replacement clouds and light effects, new mesh files) or also install modules or other software that must be loaded with/before FS2004 (thus potentially taking system resources).
Thanks

Thanks for the answer but no, I'm afraid my question was a little different. I know those products don't cause problems, but I'd like to know whether they provide replacement files or they integrate deeply into the simulator.
PS: what happened to the thread's title? I'm pretty sure I didn't mistype it...  :o

I'm still not entirely sure what your asking but from what I think your question is I will try and help...

Ground Environment: Produces replacement ground day/night texture sets for all land class textures. Stand-alone programme, has no actual integration with FS, rather it simply replaces/moves files in the texture folders. Old textures can be restored.

Ultimate Terrain: Once again, has no actual integration with FS. The stand alone programme produces 'custom' .bgl's depending on what preferences you have in the small selection window. The actual .bgl's are kept in a seperate folder, and are added to the scenery directory just as any other ad dons would be. Old mesh can be restored.

Flight Environment: Ditto as above.

None of the programmes actually have any integration into FS, and thus will themselves, have no frame impact. Obviously however, the textures/mesh they do produced could cause a frame hit, although on any computers above mid-low range, nothing should be noticeable.

However, just some personal input. I did notice blurring of ground textures when I had UT installed, no frame hit, but a blurring. Returned old mesh, and it was gone, installed again, and it came back. Installed FSGlobal Europe, fixed it  ;)

All down to personal preference really, good luck choosing, and have fun with your new purchase  ;D

That's what I wanted to know, thanks.
I think I will skip UT and FE, and purchase GE, but I'd really like to test it before, because my system is not state of the art anymore. And I can't stand blurries!
