Released in 1997, FS98 was heralded at the time as a great new Flight Simulator.

eeh help again

Postby flyrcrulz » Wed Dec 28, 2005 9:09 pm

ok i downloaded a few adventures and i noticed on this one from new mexico to new york i think it was, that the path i was flying led right into a mountain side! i was like omg, so i wanted to download super flight planner to make my own adventures so i downloaded sfp 2.8 and then i download the database that is right below the sfp link. well the instructions that came with the database said to open sfp then click "Choose the File-Search for BGL menu" and i clicked the file menu but there isn't a bgl option. im a lil confused and about to uninstall everything. can somebody please tell me how i make my own flights and/or my own adventures  :'(

Sorry. I would help if I could but it's many years since I last used FS98 in anger & I've never tried the utility you mention.

I hope there's someone out there to respond?
Strangely, I just tried out my FS98 for a short flight yesterday -- the only time this year since I got it about two years ago (got FS2k about the same time but don't even have that one loaded). My prime sim has been CFS1 although I've run CFS2 a few times. I can try to check into it but, obviously, I'd be in nearly the same starting position you're in. :P

Indeed. I just installed the utility & have no idea how it works. The Help seems very comprehensive & should explain most things you need to know.

then i download the database that is right below the sfp link. well the instructions that came with the database said to open sfp then click "Choose the File-Search for BGL menu"

I noticed that the database includes no BGL files so presumably are not what you think they are.

This archive contains a database of over 50.000 real world waypoints for
Super Flight Planner 1.5 or higher.

To install it, simply extract them into your Super Flight Planner\DATABASE
sub-folder and restart Super Flight Planner.

Next, load navaids using the
SFP File->Load BGL List->From Database command.

this is what im have trouble with. it says load navs using the load bgl list. i have looked everywhere on the prog for anything that says load blg list and i cant find it anywhere. i have been though pretty much all the help and it says the same thing, to load using the load bgl list option. omg where is it at??????? ive deleted it and downloading some diff ones im hopes to get somethig to work or is easy'er. if you can explain how to load those navs i would be happy. i have them all in the folder and everything but cant figure out how to get anything loaded  :-[

Knowing nothing about this utility I couldn't figure that one out myself. I assume that to load BGL files you would first need some BGL files to load. I have no idea where you would get these unless you create them yourself.

ok i downloaded something diff. its NAV not sure what ver it is. i got it from this site. its alot better but if anyone has this prog can you please tell me how i  can make my autopilot altitude go up and down in the flight plan or does it have to stay the same. also it says that if you press F9 key then the nav map will be displayed while you fly so you know where you are and when i press F9 nothing happens and the only way to know where im at is to take the fs out of full screen and click on the nav prog but when i do that it pauses fs and its gets kind of anoying after changing back n forth a few times. any help would be awesome, oh ya HAPPY NEW YEARS!  8)
