The last post in this forum was by Grumpy1, and Grumpy1 was Doug's old profile. I never had FS98 but it's sad to see there's no more recent posts. I guess it's dead, is it? :(

Bomber. This has been mentioned before & is not true. If you look more closely you will see that the last reply in this forum (before this one) was actually by Jester on Sep 19th, 2005. The one by me, Grumpy1, has been made a sticky topic & if you read it you will understand why. ;)

Despite what you & others might think, some people still use & enjoy FS98. All the time this is so & there are FS98 files posted for downoad on this site I will do my best to support it.

well, i think FS 98 with some addons is still the best version to use on some of the older platforms many people might have "inherited" when daddy, big brother or whoever went for a new one.

"Myshelf" is right! FS98 is still preferable if you have also good addons. I recently bought a P-4 3GHz and a copy of FS9. I installed both fs98 and FS9 and I saw that FS98 still satisfies me more than FS9! :o

It takes up a little less space on the hard drive and is a bit more naturallly compatible with CFS1.

Well it's just that it hadn't got much recent posts and no more addons are coming out specifically for it on SimV.....so I thought it's almost kicked the bucket :(

I bought a copy of FS98 in 1998 and never played it.

I just picked a flightstick and a bunch of used FS98 books on Amazon.

I plan on using it to learn the basics before I spend money on a faster PC.

It runs like a champ on a 1.7 Celeron!

SimV has numerous downloads for it; FS98 downloads are readily adaptable for CFS1 -- should work the oher way, as well. ;) 8)
