FS 2002 in widescreen?

Postby WebbPA » Thu Apr 01, 2010 9:37 pm

Has anyone successfully run FS02 in 16:9, i.e., without the 2D panel looking squashed?

I've tried the FS04 fix (WideViewAspect=True) but it doesn't do anything.

From what I've seen nothing is going to fix this in 2D panels (even in FS9 and FSX) except a complete panel redesign.

After messing around with the issue for a couple of days I've found that most panel background images can be stretched with Irfanview without much damage to the resolution.  Then it's just a matter of moving and resizing the gauges.

I probably shouldn't have started with my favorite aircraft, which has 98 gauges on the main panel.

Strangely, popup panels all look fine with no editing.

To forego resizing the main panel, you could add a section to the right side of the bitmap, adding in a section of the interior of the acft from the panel back -- but this would put you against the left of the cockpit (OK, I guess, for two seat acft); to forego all resizing, add equal left and right sides, as appropriate, to the bitmap; this, however, still needs repositioning of the gauges.

I considered that.
