I have just started playing fs2002 and now want to start playing seriously instead of just bombing it down the runway making a near vertical climb and crashing into the runway upon landing... so i was wondering how to line up with the runway properly and the procedures taken to make a succsefull take off and landing...and how to keep long hual flights from being boring mid-flight  :) thanks for listening and please reply asap  8-) 8-) :P [smiley=dankk2.gif]

Hi misternube, welcome to SimV. Okay the first thing when learning how to fly choppers is to turn the realism settings down a bit as at full realism all the helicopters are a nightmare to fly in FS (worse than the real thing)! Next pop over to our friends at Hoversafe Academy http://members.shaw.ca/hoversafe/Hoversafe.htm and work through their tutorials. By the time you've done them you'll be an ace helicopter pilot able to land on oil rigs and all sorts ;)

Welcome to the Wild Blue.  Take a look at the flight lessons in FS2002, they will help considerably.  Be very patient, you'll get the hang of it soon enough, like anything else, it takes practice.  Also, start out with an easy to fly aircraft, like the Cessnas.  Learn to fly from inside the cockpit and also in spot view.

Are you working with choppers or aircraft?  I wouldn't recommend starting out with choppers, they really are hard to control, even when you know how to fly well.  Learn the basics with regular aircraft first.

Have fun, any problems, let us know.

Ok, no offence, but where does it say choppers?

I agree with apex, dont use the toys if you dont know how to use them ;)

Michael.

Well...I'd like to think so. I'm quite hungry. But you just can't ignore the fact that that delectable yellow (if you are flying the SAR version) helicopter is not edible.

Hello my friend, you remind me of myself asking the same question 3 years ago, so I will give you the same solution I got. I went to the following link, acted upon it and within 2 weeks I was able to make an ILS landing:

hope that helps
