I've been flying around Rio in a Cessna 182, looking for the statue of Christ. I've located it OK on google earth, but cannot seem to find it on FS. I'm sure I'm in the right area. Can anyone point me in the right direction ( a screenshot would be good). Thanks.

It isn't in FS2k2

I'm not sure if there is an add-on one or not.....

I had a quick look in our scenery library and we don't seem to have one for 2k2.

Sceneries from FS2004 normally work fine ;)

Yes, there is a beautiful Rio de Janeiro add on right here at SimViation that adds (among many other things) the Redemptor Statue (i.e. the statue of Christ). It is by Newton Drumond and Fern Marquez. Use the search function and type "Rio de Janeiro" or "FS2002/2004 Rio de Janeiro Upgrade".

Yeah, I found that one & downloaded it. What a difference. Unfortunately, it's showing 2 bridges now, although the author did say that could happen, but the new bridge looks so much better, that I can live with that.

Reggie, I also ended up with two bridges, and according to the included readme file, this has to do with the fact that the add on does not 'force' FS2002 to delete the default bridge. If you want to get rid of the default bridge, apparently you have to delete that bridge (Rio_bridge_Rio_Niteroi_r8.bgl) as well as the docks (Ponta do Caju r2.bgl) from the scenery folder.
However, I was in Rio as far back as 1985, and even then the traffic jams were amazing. So two bridges might certainly help in 2006.....
Isn't this a beautiful add on? I landed in Rio quite a few times as a passenger and I remember the plane having to fly around in a holding pattern above the city and the bay in the early morning after crossing the Atlantic: that glorious view certainly woke me up, and now I can repeat the experience as a FS-pilot whenever I like....
