I have a major problem. All my standard aircraft in fs2002 are gone. Wich means, i have no aircraft on ground as in flight. I can choose from different aircraft, but the standard ai traffic is gone...
I use no other ai traffic add-on program

Hi kwiekk. My first suggestion is to look in the FS2002\Aircraft folder for a file name Default.dp. If it's missing you found the problem. You can retrieve it from one of the CAB iles on CD-1.

thanks for the answer, but the file you mentioned is there....  >:( so what's next? Remember, all the standard aircrafts are gone, as well on ground as in ther air. But they are still in my FS2002aircraft folder... so that very weird... and i can fly them....

Ah OK. Sorry I misunderstood. I can't think why your default aircraft should suddenly disappear from the selection menu. Think back to what you last did that could have affected them. It might be quicker to Uninstall/Install FS2002.

PS. I seem to remember that using System Restore can delete all CFG files. Check your default aircraft for Aircraft.cfg files. If they're missing I think the only solution is to Uninstall/Install FS2002.

Hi Guys and Ladies,    And a good morning to you all.     Thought I'd just  "jump in here"  and say THANK YOU VERY MUCH .       For a long time I'd been putting the fault on my PC  for messing-up some of my planes.  They had been coming up missing the  cfg files !  I even went on a hunt throughout my PC.   WOW  - -   are there a lot of files in a PC  ;D      I just knew they were  "hidden" in there somewhere. [ I never found them].    NOW  I know what happened to them - -  DELETED when I used the "RESTORE" program .       Now you all know another reason why I'm called a  caveman        Have a nice day and thanks again for the understanding.        caveman

Sounds like the best thing is to start over.

First a couple of notes:  
-The PIA installer does not remove or modify any installed aircraft, default or others, except for its own PIA aircraft.
-The 'fs2002 Default Commercial Remover' only removes their entries from the flightplans. All your a/c will still be in  the 'Select Aircraft' list.
-I suggest when installing PIA aircraft (whether from the 'Models & FD' packages or included in an airlines package), that you select the 'make invisible' option. These a/c are not designed to be flyable a/c and will only clutter up your 'Select Aircraft' list in FS2002.
-Aircraft 'Model & FD' packages do not contain flight plans.

OK, lets see if we can get you back to square 1.

In Windows Explorer navigate to the '.......\FS2002\SCENEDB\ATC\Scenery\' folder. Scroll down the file list to find 2 files: 'traffic.bgl' and 'traffic_ORIGINAL.bbb'(this second file is a backup of your default flight plans created by TTools). Rename 'traffic.bgl' to 'traffic-pai.bak'. Rename 'traffic_ORIGINAL.bbb' to 'traffic.bgl'. You should now have the default AI traffic in FS2002. Try it.

(From here on I speak with limited experience using PAI, as I ran it for the first time today to familarize myself. I downloaded: PIA_Installer,  User_Guide_PIA_Installer, pia_install_american_airlines, pia_remove_FS2002_default_commercial.) All went well, without a hitch)
 
If all is well, run the PAI_Installer:

Install your favorite airline from the 'Official Files/Airline Packages' page. So far as I can tell these are all complete packages with a/c and flightplans. For now use 'automatic installation'.  Go fly and try it out.

Remember, these flightplans imitate the real world, so you will not find all airlines at all airports. To find an airport included in the flightplans, navigate to the'.....FS2002\Project AI\PAI_Install\TTools\' folder. Open the 'flightplans.txt' file in notepad and scroll down till you find the large flightplans added by PAI. Look for the Airport ID's (KLAX etc.) that they fly to/from.  

If all is well, you can now install the default commercial remover. Make sure you have the version for FS2002.

Whew!!      

Hopefully this will get you back on track.

Remember to keep the User_Guide handy when installing PAI files.
